APRS gurus: I need some input on a track

Anyone interested do a 24 hr track on kb8yjd-7 and tell me if you see anything....odd, about the track. If you do we can get down to what it's all about. I'd appreciate it.

Where you in South Africa or flying on a plane?

If appears something in the configuration may be corrupt, ie: the comment is not right `_% --

What's the unit, how is it configured, etc.

Looks like one erroneous packet at 2014-06-25 17:35:59Z. It's repeated through WC4PEM, which is local in Florida so it's something I suspect in the GPS data on your beacon. Was it maybe the first beacon and your GPS or radio hadn't yet located itself in the constellation? The next two come at 2014-06-25 17:39:31Z and 2014-06-25 17:41:39Z and are located on I-4. There's no data on what beacon you're using, so maybe it's a stand-along GPS into something like a TinyTrak or something. The TNC and radio don't know right from wrong so if the GPS burped out a position before it had fully initialized maybe that's all it is. I run a FTM-350 and it won't start transmitting beacons until the GPS has resolved itself.

Its been a few days since I've. He ked the track, but I did notice that weird flyer two days in a row. Radio is a Yaesu FTM-400 using the built in gps, and prior to hitting florida everything had been working great. I'll check my track tonight when I get in, just for giggles.

I also recently installed a FTM-400DR. I haven't got to do much with it except program a bunch of repeaters into it since I don't have my call sign yet. Good luck with the radio.

Interesting. Didn't Yaesu recently post a firmware update for the FTM-400? Are you using the original version or the new one? In any case one errant start-up beacon isn't the worst thing to ever happen. If it starts happens more often or randomly then I'd worry.

Seems like it was just that 48 hr period, with two ghosts out there to the south african coastal. Other than that its been good, though I havent been running the rig that much down here.

Or maybe I've been targeted for capture by some super secret Secret Orginization, so they can brain drain me of all my top secret info. And they messed up while tracking me.

Cause yep, I'm just thaaat important.
