ARB 50qt fridge / freezer question

being new to the overland scene, i was wondering about the ARB 50 qt fridge / freezer. everything i have read tells me this is a really great unit. the question i have is this, I live on the east coast, just got a 2013 DCSB tacoma TRD and wondered about mounting the fridge in the bed. How do these things handle lots of rain, and foul weather conditions being exposed in a truck bed ? I will have a RTT over it, but there is still a excellent chance it will get soaked. Should i just mount it in the back of the truck cab to be safe ? kinda like this one is in the following pic ....

Mine lives in the bed of my truck under a Toneau cover, has for three years, and I can't say enough good things about the fridge/freezer and the folks at ARB! Not what you asked but a data point.

I have mine mounted in the bed with a rooftop tent over it and have never had a problem. It constantly gets wet and covered in dust.

thanks for the replies, i just hate to spend $800+ on a fridge and have it ruined due to constantly being rain soaked

I have left my Tundra freezer out in the elements in Moab on several trips without issue, it uses the same compressor as ARB and I just blow the dirt/dust out and wipe it down as needed.

They are a rugged unit, there is no doubt. Yet the owners manual says to keep it out of the elements. We have an 82 qt & a 50 qt. The 82 qt has been running 24/7 since the day we got it back in Sept (i think). It does double duty as an overflow fridge in the house & in the back of the Power Wagon when camping. We have a cap on the truck so weather is not an issue for them.

That's where I got mine...and many other things. I got the ARB fridge slide the last time I was there.

Will is a great guy and always very helpful whenever I have been in their store...which is about every time I'm in Phoenix.

awesome !!! glad to hear good reviews of places so you know you wont get screwed. i'm pretty new to the overland scene and still finding vendors to use and ideas for what i wanna do. where i live in Kentucky we have trails everywhere, close to windrock, trails end and other areas ( all within an hour drive or so ) Cumberland falls is only a 15 min drive for me. I have a different type of terrain to wheel in , but the same ideas and gear work here as they do out west.
