Arb awning. Aluminum or Canvas Cover?

Is the aluminum cover worth the premium? I’m not concerned about the looks but about it holding up over time. Seems like those little bungees on the hardcover would be an easy fail point?

I've seen a few of them fail right out of the box. Quick call to ARB and they sent replacements.

I have the canvas I thought I would tear off and apart in short order. Nope it has held up to a hard beating for a couple years now. Set up fast and away easily by one person.

I’m thinking about the tent room too but wondering if the height of the awning will be an issue. Tent walls are 6’7” and I’m guess the awning will be around 7’6” on the van if not a couple inches higher... a local guy has one on Craigslist I might go try if he’s up for it when the awning arrives.

My soft bag has survived killer rhodendrons just fine...and my room fits just fine with a 4in suspension lift!

Hey wanderer do you have a photo of how you mounted it? I think I’m gonna run some flat bar along the legs of my roof rack or maybe i or box if it needs to stand off the side a little.

My awning is 7 feet off the ground and I have no problems with the screen room. 7' 6" might pushing the limits though

The Ostrich Wing Awning has two wall kits, 7’10” and 6’10”. I am aware it won’t work for your awning but a good reference for what height wall kits are available for anyone interested.
