I'm sure someone's already done something like this, but would it be possible to mount one of these awnings to the back of a vehicle so that it pulls out and shades the tailgate? I've been trying to figure out how to do this but without much luck. Any thoughts?

Yes, it can be done. You will just need to figure out how you and what you want to mount it to.


I have one short one off the rear of my trailer as well as a medium size one off the side.

Question: How many places does it actually mount to the rack? One at each end and one in the middle of the awning?

Is it possible to mount these to the stock roof rails on a 100 series LC? I need to keep the stock rack for carrying bikes but would love to have the shade that these provide.

The back side of the awning is a track system that captures the bolt heads used to mount it. So there is adjustment for mounting that runs the length of the awning.

You will need to fab some brackets, but yes they can be used with factory rails.
