ARB fog light question.

A lot of speculation and not a lot of field tests in that thread.

Just saying.

BTW when you did your test, what distance were you standing from the light source? Lets just say for an off roading situation, on the east coast, not driving fast (baja style would require all sorts of different stuff), I'd say you'd really only need to see about 25 yards out front.

I'm with Hilldweller here.

I've played with my fair share of LED light garbage... I'll take just two Hella 4000s over any amount of LED light (at least the current 6000°K crap that's out there... If someone makes that light bar in a 3700°K, then it's possible my opinion could change, though the optics would still need to be decent).

Max,
I got zero LUX from an LED lightbar at 50 feet, let alone 50 yards.
Ambient was 1 LUX and that's all it read.

If you want LED that works, stick with the reputable companies. Truck-Lite makes some nifty offroad lights. JW Speaker makes some that are more DOT-friendly.
But even the ones that I tested from them didn't throw light like a pair of 4000s.

Good info to know, my only real world experience was up in VOT when one of our guys threw on his ridgid light bar and it easily lit up the field 100 yards away. The spot beams on the ARB Intensity's were also great on the trail, they seemed to throw light as far as any other off road driving light.

Key word is "seem".
As with all lights, I let the meters do the thinking. I've been fooled often enough myself.
