Have to vent...
I HATE UPS
Today was the day when my new ARB fridge/freezer was to be delivered by UPS. I made arrangements to be home all day (Thursday) to receive the package. I live in a loft so I taped a large note in the lobby right by the buzzer with my buzzer code to make it easier for the UPS guy to buzz my phone. All day I wait by the phone, often checking the lobby watch on my TV as I work away on my laptop. I kept checking my phone to see if I had missed the call. The package never came. At 5:30 I check my web tracking number and it states that I wasn’t home at 5:03 to receive the package.
So I call up UPS and explain this to them, and they say, “We will just deliver it tomorrow.”
I said, “You want me to wait around all day again tomorrow because your driver couldn’t be bothered to buzz up to my apartment?”
So the guy says he will call and see if the driver can come back after I point out he was at my place 25 minute previous to our conversation and I was sitting at home waiting to receive this package.
Ten minutes later I get a call back from UPS saying he is not going to come tonight to deliver my package because the driver would get back to the yard late.
I asked why I should be inconvenienced all day and he, who did not do his job, can’t be inconvenienced for an hour. I again asked why he would enter the lobby and not call up. I got some BS that since my buzzer code wasn’t the same as my unit number, and since it wasn’t printed on the package that the driver probably didn’t have time to look through the directory (We have an easy to use electronic directory). I pointed out the sign I had clearly printed that a blind man couldn’t miss, and the fact that he never left a slip saying he had come by and missed me.
I said, “I don’t think he came at all and I want to log a complaint.”
She dismissively said she would speak to the driver’s supervisor, but I doubt she will.
So frustrated! I always have problems with this company. I hate UPS.
