ARB Locker in FF Dana 60 (2wd)

I stopped counting a LONG time ago. I add modifications as particular adventures require and leave the "boy, this is costing a lot of money" conversations for other parts of life. The nice thing about adventure travel is you can do it in pretty much anything....

We've done several in the FF 60's, just need to change the shafts. Randy's as well as all of the other gear suppliers have universal 35 spline shafts that you can cut to fit. Works great.

I recently switched to 35 spline shafts to run a true trac. I got cut-to-fit shafts - on my Dana 60 FF the diameter was not an issue.
Shafts were under $400 for both sides. I had a local shop install. About $400 shafts, $800 true trac, $300 4.10 gears and a few hundred in labor.

I guess I'm in the minority. You can keep your air lockers, e-lockers, and cable actuated bovine lockers. I'll take a dirt simple dang near indestructible Detroit locker every time. Know your gear and how to drive it and street isn't an issue. I ran nothing but mechanicals in all my CJs and never managed to put myself in a ditch.

Dana 60 35 spline w/ OX manual locker

Guys, can you confirm that the Ford E350 does indeed have a 32 spline axle? I have a '99 7.3L E350 EB with a full float 60.

I'm looking to install an OX manual locker and would have to go with a 35. If that is the case, what is the necessary axle length? They come 31-33.5", 34-36.5" and 37-39.5".

Anything else I need to know?

Thanks

A bit off topic, but what lockers are those with the ford 9.75 rear end running. My search online has only found two choices - Detroit, or ARB. Right now the factory posi is working fine, and I may never need a locker. I know that I would like one though. Just wondering what the options are.

You'll need to get close in length and cut the axle shafts to match your stock units. We recently a FF D60 with an OX.

Since your in Vail here is someone you should consider to do the install. You want someone with a lot of experience to work on a differential.

Crawlertech 4 x 4. They are located in Commerce City, north side of metro Denver. Joshua Loenstein is the owner. Their speciaity is hard core 4x4s so he is very knowledgeable about Dana 60s. Joshua has a reputation of being one of the most knowable axle shops in Colorado. I would drive from Vail to have him do the work. I lived in Dillon and had him put a ARB in my Jeep. See his web site. Phone 720-422-4598
