This is purpose-built-to-task platform esigned to support a multi-month trip into hard-to-travel areas around the world. Unfortunately due to a personal health issue, I can no longer take this trip.

The vehicle is extremely low mileage, extremely well taken care of and in superb condition. The overall platform was tested but not used. I have added over $60K in various parts to the platform and spent over 600 hours building and testing the various subsystems.

These include its own custom-designed and developed local and wide-area network and cyber security. It has unique capabilities such as custom software for geo reporting location via IP (Internet) or ham radio APRS to the vehicles dedicated web site. It also has the capability to communicate with the International Space Station, and custom routing code for proper communication method selection, (Mobile Network, StarLink, or Guest WiFi).

It comes complete with a robust array of tools and a first-aid kit that supports many types of injuries and illnesses, including emergency minor surgical procedures. It also comes with adventure cameras and drone and hosts a dedicated onboard NAS as well as media server for entertainment of processing videos taken.

It has a customer electrical system with the ability to deliver AC in and out, multi-method DC in and out well as a custom water delivery and shower systems.

This is not a daily drive vehicle, and given the cost of all the parts and technologies and time spent building, anyone who is looking for the equivelant will spend as much if not more.

Most importantly buying gear is one thing, implementing it in a thoughtful, harmonious manner that makes a platform use-ful and operable over the short and long-term is altogether something else. That is what this platform is.

What HAM radio did you put in? The folks at the Space Station and other space jockeys have been on HAM bands for decades.

I know about health issues, I modified my boat for camping/cruising and fishing, then stuff hits and I can't really use it. I'll be selling it at a loss because I know most don't want or need a boat the way I rigged it.

I thought a video processing system for a drone was in a computer program. I would never use it but I do have a drone.

There is nothing missing and there are no gaps. Perhaps it is how the photo presents.

It has a Kenwood tm-d710g. I believe this is perhaps the best VHF/UHF radio on the market. You are correct the ISS astronauts do allocate time to HAM functions. This can certainly support that, but we also have APRS relay off the ISS.

Yes - the media server is software, this vehicle has a dedicated rackmounted media server with video processing chipset that can drive multiple simultaneous 4K streams. It also has a NAS for storage. Both of these are outside of what you would use for your laptop.

i took a look at the website.
first, i'd like to say i am very impressed in how thought out this is and how OP fit everything found in larger expedition vehicles in a small SUV.

second, i'd like to say the communication stuff is probably where OP's build is different from other regular builds, to the point that it's probably overkill. i mean, who really needs storage servers and such when portable hard drives and starlink to cloud drives do the job. unfortunately, that department is where a lot of people will not need, aside from the FJ Cruiser itself (i'm sorry, i work on too many FJs and it's hard for me to like them), and that's where people looking for a FJ as their expedition vehicle (again, it's beyond me why someone would take such a small platform for expedition) would shy away from. I know the price tag is in the electrical and the comms and tech stuff, but it's just way too overkill for regular folks. but for folks looking to get an expedition vehicle, they'd be looking at a Fuso 4x4 or something bigger for better living experience. just saying.

third, impressive electrical work, and i say that as the wiring guy at the shop. however, auxbeams... really? those are one of the most popular and yet unreliable electrical components there is. i can't count how many i had to replace because they short out or simply stop working. i understand most money is in comms and other tech components, but running chinesium replica lights and switches made me question the quality of other electrical components and electrical work.

not bashing the build. in fact, i am impressed. i actually learned a few things and am planning to breakdown my truck build on a webpage like that. i can see why OP is asking for the price he's asking, but at the same time, i can also see why people laugh. unfortunately the tech things are just overkill for this kind of build on this platform. if it's a full size, then yes, that totally makes sense. But for regular folks who are looking for a turn-key rig, $125k with auxbeam is just... laughable. let's be honest, not everyone's a YouTuber, and as YouTubers go... they probably much prefer to build their own rigs instead.

Just my two cents—this post pulled me out of hibernation here on EP. You’d have a tough time selling for even $65K, especially considering that the median sale price of an FJ in the U.S. is under $20K, which also eliminates any financing options.

I understand and respect the time and effort that goes into building these rigs, but the FJ market isn’t where you think it is, even with all the modifications. At this price point, buyers are looking at fully kitted Tiger campers, Sportsmobiles, and ‘used’ serious expedition trucks from Europe—vehicles purpose-built for long-term, off-grid travel.

For context, I occasionally take on full frame-off Safari 911, Land Cruiser, and classic Defender custom builds for clients if they bug me enough as I’m more into the classic supercar/hypercar and import/export space now, and for the fully kitted cruisers and defenders- even with export/import fees, the final billed cost comes in below this asking price. I mention that because anyone spending $125K cash is expecting a lot more for their money. And what that really means is, If they are spending 125k cash, they’re starting gate expectations are usually what 250k+ actually gets you.

I’d recommend you put this on BAT, or hold on to it and try to get some use out of it. It’s a very well thought out build, but it’s hard for people that don’t build rigs to understand what all has gone into it. Especially when there’s flatbed four wheel campers mounted on kitted out rams and such here on ep for around that price. GLWS lots of mates sent this to me on IG, had to see if it actually real.

What the heck is an ArcticFox Expedition Vehicle? No seriously, what is it? Is that a moniker that you gave the truck or is this an actual production line vehicle that you build? I think it’s confusing to buyers to call it something other than what it is, a 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Just because you gave it a name and created a website doesn’t mean it’s whatever you want to call it.

Your website is at least creative and in-depth but it almost looks like a cheesy geocities page from the late 90’s. Hate to say it but you will be very lucky to even get $40K for this thing. The only redeeming quality is that it’s a low mileage 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser. The way it’s built would require a very specific buyer and likely anyone that buys it would probably gut all the mods and keep just the truck. Just sell it as a heavily modified 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser and you’ll probably have more interested buyers rather than some goofy “ArcticFox” persona.
