After reading many great trip reports on these areas here on Expo, two buddies and I decided we should go check it out for ourselves.
We spent 7 days exploring around the Arizona Strip, Monument Valley and Northern Lake Powell area. It was a great time!
The vehicles for this trip were my well built 1978 Chevrolet K10 and a buddies well built 1983 Dodge Ram Charger along with a trailer we custom built for this trip.
I bought a SPOT GPS tracker for the trip after watching Beemerchef roam around the country with his. SPOT was great as our wives at home could track our progress online and it gave them a level of comfort to receive the OK messages each evening and morning. Although I am very disappointed in the SPOT Adventures website as it is very cumbersome to add photos and actually get the photos at the right place on the map. I am still working on the SPOT Adventures page and getting very frustrated while doing so.

A few pictures from the trip.
Good ole Tuweep
The dust bogs near Lava Falls make for some dusty vehicles
100 Mile Canyon near SB Point
Camping in the “Valley of the Gods” Utah
Buddy preparing dinner. Valley of the Gods
Camping on the “Hole in the Rock” trail
Neat side attractions a long the Hole in the Rock trail
This dude wanted to know why I was crawling all over his half track
SPOT worked great mounted inside the truck topper.
Here is a link to another site I frequent with a more detailed trip report.
