I didn't use flash. I just grabbed a floor lamp from inside the house that had 3 adjustable 40 watt bulbs with frosted white shades. Then I just positioned the lamp off to the sides in different positions until I captured what I wanted.

Because it was just household incandescent lighting they turned out a bit yellow but that was easy to correct with white balance in post.

Cool-nice simple solution, as long as you have a long drop cord!

True. In this case the cactus is in a pot right outside the back door on the porch next to an outlet. Cheated. :sombrero:

That's not going to work tomorrow when I'm camping in the mountains.

Yeah, they really need to install more outlets out there...

Have a good trip-looking forward to seeing some landscapes next week!

Here's a recent one at one of our local coves. The clouds, almost look like cheetah spots. I used lightroom to tone down the sky a bit.

While in Missouri for Crawl 4 Christ, I framed up a sunset reflection for a try. My camera LCD was shattered at this time with no way of knowing if the mirrors were in position from being dropped, so this is on AUTO (the only setting that worked) and I like the result. I need to figure out how to clean it up a bit in post editing to really make a good shot. What do you all think?

Believe it or not, that table is a white frosted glass, but the yellow reflection looks cool.

Pat, did you add the moon? The motion blur in the pillars, water and sky suggests it was a longer exposure and if so it has me wondering how you got the moon not to show any movement or turn into a blown out highlight. Cool shot either way!

Yes Trevor, I added the moon. I've yet to figure out how to get this shot without taking two seperate photos and sandwiching them together.

I think you might be able to do it with a Tilt-Shift lens, but I dont have one, so I do it the Ansel Adams way....LOL

Especially when shooting a subject like this, I think my exposure was almost 30 seconds, so the stars, moon and clouds all would have considerable movement in them if it was a single image.

There is supposed to be some crazy thunderstorms coming through the area tonight, so I might head back down and sit out back on the deck and see what I can get tonight
