Thanks- yup Hydrangeas I think, and the first I'm not sure what, mixed with some fall foliage.
The GF1 does not have a view finder and I noticed the image blurring in the LCD when I rotated the camera around trying to compose a shot - so I went with it :). I found that using a timer helped me smoothly time the camera movement without worrying about pressing the shutter release.

So...

...I went looking for fall colour and came back with something entirely different, go figure.:ylsmoke: I headed north for a few days looking for more colour, but the dry summer we had has taken its toll on the foliage so the colours are weak this year in parts of Ontario. Not to be dissuaded I tried to make the most of it. :)

Cool shots.

Ian Cameron has a great little book out called Transient Light where he describes those special moments where a brief shift occurs in the quality of ambient light, creating a magical but always elusive harmony of shape color and texture surrounding the subject in the frame.
That third picture has it.

Slavin, What the hell? Tell us about how you captured those images inside the curl. Amazing and very well done.:victory:

Ha. I could tell you but... :sombrero:

I spent a few years of my photographic career shooting as a freelancer for several surf magazines. Most of the time was spent swimming in big water with a camera. I don't get to do enough of it these days but next to being in the middle of nowhere with my truck, it's my favorite place to be.

I'll see what else I can dig up. I've got some pretty crazy stuff from Samoa.

Thanks Brad!

Clark Little uses a fisheye and an underwater housing for his wave shots so if I were to guess I'd have to say that's what used above, although I could be wrong.

Cool stuff by the way smslavin!

Clark's crazy but his work is stunning. I've been in some heavy surf but nothing like where he puts himself. His work has always been a source of inspiration.

I don't shoot with a fisheye as I feel the look is overused. In the water, I use a 16-35/2.8 and normally have it set at 20 or 24.

Thanks for the kudos.

The amazing shots just keep rolling in. :victory:

Trevor, do you use ND grads in the field when shooting or do you apply an ND grad effect in PP? You definitely have a nice balance between the foregrounds and skies.

I do use grads in the field but only when absolutely required as dictated by the rgb histogram. The last two had no filters and were shot approximately 10-15 minutes after sunset facing east with the light at my back. For those last two I metered for the sky and then dialed in +1.5-2 stops of exposure comp.

And your results say that worked out perfectly.:wings:

Thanks

Thanks. I'd also like to start playing with some exposure blends to really stretch the range in some shots but I haven't pulled the trigger on software yet. I'm thinking photomatrix or Niks new program.
