Snapped this about two hours ago while walking the dog. I've walked past this tree a thousand times but for some reason yesterday it jumped out at me. So I made a note of my exact location on my iPhone and returned today with my camera, again while walking the dog. I uploaded it into LR, ran a simple low contrast B&W conversion and viola. I'm really happy with this shot, I think I may print this one big.
As far as I know they were just some random planes. They flew over the local cenotaph on remembrance day. This is a case of right place, right time, right conditions, and a little luck with timing.
Here are few more shots from the same area as the last tree shot. Please let me know what you think. These shots represent something a little different then my typical style and way of shooting. Most certainly a slower, much more deliberate pace. Trees like this are not easy to shoot, and finding balance with such a busy subject requires patience and time with the subject.
Trevor - as someone who is just a viewer (not a photography expert), I like the middle 2 best.
And of those, I like the 1st one the most. It has an amazing amount of color in it and really reminds me of a winter day on the farm where I grew up. We had a large grove of trees on the south side of our property and I remember views like this on cold winter mornings.
As always, I really enjoy your work. Thanks for sharing.
Trevor, I like the third one of the first series, that is black and white. I find that some scenes really lend themselves to black and white and that one sure does. Guy
