I see you're about to be stationed in CT. Much different "exploring the back country" within a 5 to 7 hour drive than you're probably used to in WA. We have no BLM land here. Forget about beach camping. Give up. Sell everything and put your money towards B&B accommodations and plane tickets. Or a house in VT.

I'm kidding, but only sort of. Get settled first before you make any rash decisions.
