Anyone use one of these yet? I heard Martyn is working up a project.

Where to mount the thing on my Horizon seems like the biggest challenge, but I was thinking of bolting a custom box on to the front of the drivers side side box.

Right were the 3 bolts are (From PO isntalled CO2 Tank)

Then make it so the flexible hose could just sit in the changing room.

I would need to consider how hot it gets to determine the proper mounting enclosure and heat disappation path.

I installed a 2nd propane tank right below this spot to use for the heater.

Hoping someone has blased the trail and I wanted to make sure they put out enough heat, assuming I would need the larger one. Current draw is great compared to a popup heater, but does that reduce the performance enough that is doesn't do the job

Ken,
Just for comparison: Our Webasto diesel heaters are rated at ~7,200 BTU. I'm sure the volume of our KK's are quite a bit more than your RTT. The BTU is well matched to our space unless we get above 7,000' then we don't get that BTU out of it. But if you truly expect to be able to camp out in 0F weather I'd opt for the larger BTU unit to compensate for wind/cold and thin canvas walls ;-)

Another question about the AT unit (for AT): When the burner is not firing (in the situation the temp via the t-stat has been realized) does the fan still run or does the t-stat also turn the fan off until the bottom temp threshold is reached where it would turn fan and burner back on?

Yes the thermostat controls the propane, ignition, and fan. It high grade piece of marine equipment that the manufacturer has adapted for vehicle use.

I'm still working on the modification to make this unit truly portable.

Martyn, do you have any propgress or estimated completion time you want to share?

I'm working on it over the next few weeks. I'll start to document it in a new thread so I can benifit from everyone's feedback.

Thanks Martyn,
I am ready to pull the trigger. I would also be happy to test fit something if you like and provide feedback.

I have been checking out similar, but (not as quality units) for a while. After camping last weekend in -15 degree weather I want one. It was truly brutal to get up in the morning and pull my boots on.
