To clarify, we confirmed that the rack will work on both the Access and Double Cab Tacoma. Keep in mind that the Habitat over hang you see on the Expedition Overland DC Tacoma is 12" less on the Access cab.

I'm on the verge of selling my JKU for a Tacoma TRD Pro and I'm interested in the AT Habitat. However, with the Tacoma my GSD will have to ride in the back and I'm concerned about the heat and cold. Is there any way to make a pass through between the AT Habitat and the rear window of the Tacoma? I'm thinking completely remove the rear glass to open it up and install some kind of rubberized seal to minimize water intrusion. I realize some will say get a 4Runner, but you can't get a built-in tent on a 4Runner, I've got a traditional RTT for my JKU and I'm not a fan. Plus the Tacoma offers a lot more storage with the 5 or 6' bed than a 4Runner with the rear seat up.

Didn't AT launch the habitat tent system for JK? From the looks, it could probably also fit the 4 Runner... did I dream that @elcoyote?

They have one for the JKU, but my JKU build is done and I'm just kind of bored with it. I may keep my Jeep, not 100% set on selling it. Either way I want a Tacoma as a daily driver. There isn't anyway it'll work on the 4runner because the top isn't removable like it is on the Jeep.

I found this websitehttps://www.accordionboot.com/form.php which makes this product:

I believe I could make an aluminum ring patterned after the back glass that was held in with the window trim on the truck and also have a corresponding cut out on the Habitats forward bulkhead. The accordion boot would be easy to attach, it wouldn't damage the truck's paint, it would allow the frame to flex would be 100% removable since I'm not permanently altering the truck.

JC,

One thing to remember with pass-through idea is that the Tacoma's bed doesn't have any sound insulation. I have a fiberglass ARE shell on my Tacoma and use the accordionboot between the shell and the cab. However, I only removed the shell's glass and used their 540 PN boot between the shell and the cab of the truck. My purpose was to improve rearward visibility. Before the boot, snow, dust and mud would get between the cab and the shell which was very hard to clean and made looking through three dirty pieces of glass nearly impossible. That boot pretty much solved that issue.

I realize leaving the stock Tacoma slider in place might not give you the size of pass-through that you're looking for but you might give that a shot before you remove both panes of glass and use a 541 boot. When I open my rear slider window to the back shell, the noise in the cab gets significantly louder, especially at highway speed. You might want to try the 540 boot route with the factory glass in place before you go ahead and remove both panes. Then you can open the rear slider as a test and see if you can live with the noise.

Either way, I've had good luck with the accordion boot products. It does a pretty good job of sealing out the weather and I've only noticed one or two trickles making it down the glass. That really only happens during pouring rain while driving offroad in frame-flexing conditions. I've had that 540 boot installed for 5 years and haven't noticed it wearing on the paint at all. YMMV

What is the night from the floor of the bed to the roof with the roof closed. I was wondering due to stealth camping. Thanks

That would be the depth of your bed + 23".

Mario, is the tent only available for sale? By this I mean the fold out shell without the lower
enclosure. If so, price :) Thank you

A version referred to as the Vehicle Habitat is available. It is the clamshell portion with the tent and mattress for use as essentially a RTT that can have an access hole cut in the floor if so desired. $6500

What are the dimensions of just the clamshell portion. It would be interesting to see installs on Land cruisers or other platforms like Gwagens, Discos and Defenders.
