AT's new trailers

Hey Martyn, it's a good thing I put my unmentionables away before you showed up :sombrero: I had them hanging from the chandeliers when I woke up (something about those red lights :Wow1:)

These trailers are definitely something that you need to see in person. Pictures and video don't do them justice.

HeHe, I was just about to say that it looks like it was an unexpected visit, as someones room had been cleaned up yet:elkgrin:

But how I do like the look of that teardrop..:drool:
Looks to be perfect for 1-2 people to get away in:safari-rig:(wheres the trailer smiley)

We tried that. Charges were $250.00 to post a pdf, and it took a week to upload it to the site.

I decided I could pay myself the $250.00 for 15 minutes work (or at least save the company that type of money).

That's ridiculous. Too bad there wasn't somebody competent you could hire.

I did, I hired me

You guys know that Mario does all the work in the shop, right? :sombrero:

Martyn doesn't have anything else to do all day so he plays with the computers... apparently breaking them from time to time. :hehe:

Keep up the great work guys.

My feeling about the difference in the market between Aus/Africa and here, is that "wheeling" tends to be less of a family afair here. It's much more extreme and the trails chosen are more dangerous, and usually involves 1 or 2 young men, some camping gear in the back of a 2 door Jeep, and a beer cooler. "Family Camping" means RV parks.

In Australia, touring the back country is done with a loaded 4 door, and the comforts of a trailer are appreciated for longer stays. Just my observations.

Anyway, so what are the details on the new coupler?
Why does "Deliverance" come into my head? :D But seriously, I don't think "wheelin", which to me is where driving over rough terrain is the primary objective, is not as popular here.

I think the market here is for convenience. I'm a hiker so like minimalistic gear - only what I can carry on my back. Now having a family I still wish to go and also to introduce my kids to the bush (and so they know what dirt is, no princesses in my fam!). Having tried the tent/tarp routine last year with three bubs, it just doesn't work and is pretty stressful especially in poor conditions. Convenience of setup and take down is a big thing. Hence the foldable and similar layouts are very attractive for families.

So I'd say AT have just expanded their market considerably.

Yes, exactly. That's why I'm building my trailer to set up and take down at the snap of a finger. It's agonizing trying to set up a tent or an outdoor kitchen while a toddler is running around.

We built the Horizon around the concept of setting up camp in 10 minutes. Convenience comes at a price, but it worth it.

You can relaxing in your favorite chair, sipping a cocktail, while those around you are still trying to remember how to unfold their ground tent, or realize they forgot all their tent poles.

Set up on the composite trailer should be close to that for deploying a Roof Top Tent. 3 minutes to set up and 5 minutes to put it away.

The Tear Drop looks like a So-Cal tear drop. Any chance you'll be making ones along the size of the 5x11 ones they offer?

The Tear-drop is a collaboration between AT and So-Cal Teardrops. Gabe from So-Cal is a long time off-roader and we have been bouncing this idea back and forth for a couple of years now.

The Tear drop at the show was a concept trailer to judge peoples reception to the product. The production model looks like it will be 6 inches wider to give a little more interior room and kitchen width.

We will have all the statistics on both trailers posted to our web site sometime next week.

I just thought I'd throw this out there since you're still in the development stages: I like the idea of an off-road "teardrop", and almost went that way myself. However, if I were in the market for purchasing one, I would want it to be more modern and "technical" looking. I'm not nostalgic enough to want to tow a retro looking trailer behind my modern vehicle.

Not a criticism, just some feedback for your planning. Perhaps you could have two styles that are otherwise constructed on the same frame, only one is a boxy, and one is a teardrop.
