yeah

Just remember, as it has already been stated earlier in this thread: if you get an 01-04 double cab, you do not have the option of getting a stickshift. That right there kept me from getting a double cab, as I must be able to shift gears. Long live the manual transmission!

if that is true, then I guess I had better re think my plans. I want a manual trans. I have never owned an auto...I swear I was reading on kelly blue book that the manual trans was an option after '01. I could be wrong...it would not be the first time!

Only on regular cab or extended cab. The double cab wasn't even available in the US until 2001, so there is no such thing as a pre-2001 double cab tacoma.

I must admit shifting with a broken collar bone or shattered ankle gets old quick. I still love my manual. Although the new autos are nice and I am not a huge fan of the manual in the new Tacoma. I think it is personal preference.

In two separate incidents I banged up my right shoulder and left leg. Didnt break anything, but it was pretty difficult driving the car at the time (5 spd mr2). With a auto, as long as you have one of each (leg and arm) you can at least get someplace to get help.

I've heard comments about the 6spd Tacoma being a little light footed, clutch release a little slow. Compared to old Mustang, yes.. but it isnt as bad as some other cars I've borrowed/driven. After a couple of days, if that, it will seem normal. One guy at work bought a Ford over a Tacoma because of the clutch. Silly reason, but to each their own.
