Awning for front or side of flippac?

I'd like to be able to have an awning on the side or back of my flippac for rain protection, so I can put a table under it and cook and sit in the rain.

I'd like to hear from people who have done this.

What would you recommend? I see some commercial awnings, for campers but they require a C channel.

Has anyone installed a commercial awning on a flippac or built a homemade one? Obviously I'd like something that would be easy to set up and take down, and would hold up in wind and rain.

Thanks

Paul

Fox wing, it will cover all around the area for ya.

The Fox Wing pivots of one point and would apply too much stress to the shell.

You would be better off with a single straight awning like the Eezi Awn or Fiamma. They are both in hard aluminum clam shells and offer the best protection tot he awning.

The Fiamma F35 can be set up so that it is self supporting with the legs coming back and attaching to the side of the vehicle.

A rear awning is difficult as the back window opens up above horizontal. Even if you worked out some way of doing that smaller awning are very difficult to find.

Agree with Martyn wholeheartedly.

For the rear of my Flippac, which is where I really find myself "hanging out tailgating", I am planning a simple, multi-purpose system that can provide shade, privacy, and shelter.

1. Kelty car tarp: I plan to use this off the rear of the FP (it may need a trip to the tailors for sizing on that one end) and using a couple eye bolts and carabiners for quick attachment. I will use a small bit of all weather carpet or something as an abrasion buffer so that the rear window of the FP does not wear holes in the car tarp. I already have a very nice set of 12 inch Snow Peak tent pegs for anchoring this securely.

2. Camping lab awning on driver side of FlipPac with wall panels for extended stays. This can be a multi-purpose room for another sleeping area, sitting area/dining room, or shower/hygiene area. I'm also kinda waiting to see if Fiamma will have something available with walls here soon as I prefer a hard case for UV protection.

Shade off the back and a side room in conjuction with the huge interior space the FlipPac provides will make for a very good glamping experience ;)

I'm thinking of one of these for the Flip Pac:

It's not exactly what I think would be ideal. What I would like is a vestibule. BNut I don't see anything on the market between that and this:
