Awning recommendations?

We have had a 23 Zero Peregrine 270 for about 3 years; I had it deployed on the ZR2 and now on the overland trailer. Easy to deploy, less than 1k for the model I currently have direct from 23 Zero. Well made, but not free-standing. Living in New Mexico, it seems to always be windy, so I deploy the poles and tie downs. Would buy again- somewhere between disposable and stupid expensive, IMHO.

When I need an awning usually it's for inclement weather situations. Heavy rain, strong wind, snow conditions, etc. Any awning can work well in the sun, but would you trust leaving the awning up in a rain storm? I settled on a Kinsmen awning made in the USA.

This is the only awning I found that has a snow load rating. Darn thing is heavy duty and you can easily do pull ups on the bars without ground stakes. Buy once cry once for gear I use/need for crappy situations.
$2550 Holy Hell!!

I have OVS 270 on my trailer. This is its third year and it’s been good. Very sturdy in heavy wind and not too bad to deploy and repack solo. If I were buying today I’d check out Reign awnings.

I was hoping for something that could take a little wind.

It is interesting to consider the "buy cheap as replace if necessary" idea.
Buddy has/had an “Amazon special” one. Worked well for exactly what it is and needed to be. Maybe a little saggy, and cumbersome to set up the first few times.

Just make sure to tie them down (and most others) each and every time, or you will be replacing them quickly.

Thinking of, I need to rework mine because I took off my rack. I have always used a tarp with uprights and guyouts for placement anywhere.

sadly, they are not in business anymore. I felt they were the best and missed my opportunity to get one.

Really? Their website is taking orders. His social media (company and private) both look like they are doing business. What did I miss? He just moved to Arkansas last year I do know that and their was a pause on orders.

It was not that much when I bought it!

Looking at the parts, cnc cut and power coated, hand stitched, materials, etc etc you couldn't built this awning for less than 3k if you DIY. If a normal awning for sun is like a tent, this awning is like a commercial building. Not in the same ballpark and different uses (snow/rain/wind loading). Not for everyone that is for sure!

Maybe something has changed. I have a friend who has one, best awning ive seen in action. I was sold and reached out via email 3-4 times and have never gotten a response and have heard the same from others. I've been on the website as well and the passenger 270 awning shows "sold out" no matter which mounting kit you select.

Darn I didn't realize that. Nothing since 2022:/ such a great product. Looking at his Instagram he drove to a tornado with the awning!!? Craziness. How many awnings can be deployed in a tornado/hurricane without tie downs? Yeah nuts he's not taking orders

I ended up getting a OVS Nomadic 270LT. They seem like a reasonable balance to price vs quality, and just went on sale for over $100 off.

Mine is "out-for-delivery" and due to arrive today.
