Side Trips
Some other things you might want to check out in the area if you get bored of the river :REExeSwimmingHL: .
About 5 miles south of Indian Pass Rd on Olgilby Rd there is the ghost town of Hedges. It is directly east of Gold Ranch Rd. It has a couple of standing walls left, several foundations, a cemetary, and some round metal tanks.
In the Park itself, Bear Canyon is a nice, short side trip. Also the Picacho Mine stamping mill (a short hike along the river), and the river overlook trail that follows the old mine train route.
At Lonesome Knoll, local custom is that you bring a rock and add it to the mound.
South of the Park itself, along Picacho Rd towards Yuma, there are a few easy trails. Most of them are to the west of Picacho Rd. One of the trails takes you through some rolling hills where people have spelled out their names in rocks.
Even futher south along Sidewinder Rd, I have been told by a BLM Ranger, there are geoglyphs. I have not found them yet, but have not looked that hard either.
