we are on a 14 day RT ride to Cabo San Lucas, thanks to all of you who helped us out at the planning forum. Left LA at 7 am yesterday. Crossed the border and headed south. 1st stop was for lobster and margaritas at Puerto Nuevo just south of Rosarito. Drove south reaching San Quintin around 6:30pm. We crossed the Baja 1000 racers and their pit stops lining the road. Folks thought we were part of it and cheered us on. In San Quintin we found a place on the beach called Fidel's. He lives there almost went fishing on his boat this morning He has a long stretch on the beach with free firewood and hot showers. Now eating nopalito con huevo at Mama Espinza's in El Rosario. Great food with internet. Overlander and bikers stop here for the great food.

we are now in Cabo San Lucas

all has been great, we spent the second night in Sergio's back yard in a little fishing village named Sta Rosalita. we met Sergio when we pulled into the village in the dark looking for a place to camp out. we where asking for directions, he invited us to stay in his yard and was celebrating his 9 year wedding anniversary. we also met Jorge, a bicyclist from spain traveling to the south pole. shared with Sergio family and Jorge 2 bottles of wine and tecates. He shared with us a feast of octopus, abalone, oysters, fish ceviche that were all just caught from the ocean down below.

now for the bad news we are now in Cabo San Lucas and lost our phone / camera last nite. if we find it we will post those pictures next time mean while here are some pictures i took from my iphone.

we are here till friday to hang out with family then plans to take a slow trip back.

our experience with the military check points has all been great!!! sergio's yard.JPGvillage 2.JPGfishing village.JPGam coffee.JPG

had to meet family members in Cabo San Lucas so we blew through La Paz just long enough to stop by for some clam cocktails on one of the street cart.

rear axel is made by diamond axel and the front axel we just extended it 7" and sleeved it.

where is your place in La Paz maybe we will stop by on the way back.

Graeme turbo has been great lot's of power, i have an inter cooler and my fuel screw is basically turned up all the way out 3 turns.

Topes

Here is a tip about the Topes (speed bumps) that we have learned to respect. When you see a baby topes rest assured that big mama topes will be there shortly, and if you do not slow down you will go flying over them for sure, happened to us about three times. After the third time we learned to say out praises to the topes and slowed down. They are there for good reason to slow you down when going through town or a sharp turn on the road.

Military check points, no problem at all, a great time to stretch your legs.

Cabo San Lucas is a cruise ship destination, we been enjoying time with the family, Saturday we begin out “slow trip” back. looking for suggestions for a good stop on the way back

Here are some pictures of our short stop at Bahia Conception, La Paz, Cabo San Lucas.

Enjoy!:sunny:Bahia.JPGcoctails.JPGel guero.JPGLa Paz.JPGfish tacos.jpgmarlin.JPGsalsa.JPGherberito.JPG

I think you stayed in Santa Rosalillita.

And let me guess Sergios wife's name is Nacha?

They are buddies of mine. Whenever I'm down there I try to give him some cash for supplies for his school.

Nachas extended family and I are really tight.

that is exactly where we stayed, Sta Rosalillita, yes Nacha is fabulous. She is also a fantastic cook!

Aqua Caliente,Baja

Too cool! As I left last week from Agua Caliente, the blue trailer had just popped into the place, and I noticed the shiny 4x4 too. Glad you met up with him! Hope it was relaxing after Cabo!

Your pictures are making me hungry! So much good food to be had while on the road....one of the reasons I like to travel.

Agua Caliente hot springs is a nice place to camp. I was there myself last time in Baja but unfortunately I had a different experience there then most people.

puerto escondito

arrived just after sunset at puerto escondido. the port had boats no people and we asked the store owner where to find a beach to camp. he sent us down a dirt road saying to follow it around the mountain to the beach. this is how we ended up spending 2 night at rattlesnake beach. great place that is free. you can catch fish from the shore. last picture is from our last stop tecolote beach.:sunny:

I must admit after watching "the build up" of your rig, and seeing it now out on the road is cool. You must be enjoying all the hard work right about now. Nice pictures too!

Bahia Conception, Santa Rosalia, San Ignacio, more

Bahia Conception. then on to Sta Rosalia founded by the French in the 1880's. next San Ignacio to camp along the river for the nite. Lots of off road camping but Jax spotted this place with a sign "hot showers" and it was decided. Additional bonus is internet and 2 great dogs. Here are the pictures to tell the story.

Crossed over from the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific and spent the night at Nacha & Sergio's in Santa Rosaliito. Hope to arrive San Quintin late afternoon for last night of camping on beach. In the home stretch to earth.
