Bantam T3-C Build

It tows better with the 35" Mud Terrains than the 32" BFG's.

I need to setup a trail run for a couple of days to test everything out. I still haven't started wiring the electrical 12v/120v system.

Hey I am in the process of ordering an axle, for my Bantam T3-C can you tell me where you bought your axle and how much if you can? I had the same measurements at 53" hub to hub and 33" spring center. does that sound about right?

Nice video.

Was the trailer loaded during the testing?

I had a few items in the bed, but no where near what I'm expecting to carry.

Figure 10gal of fuel, water and misc camping gear will be ~300lbs. I haven't weighed the trailer yet. I'll probably get it to the scales next week.

Finally got the Jeep wired, built an extended hitch (to clear the swing away bumper) and was able to tow the trailer via freeway for the first time.

So here are the numbers...

Dry trailer weight: 1000lbs. This is completely empty, no fuel in the fuel cans or anything in the bed. That also doesn't include any of the battery electrical system, but does include the RTT.

A little heavier than I expected. I guess by the time I get it loaded I'll be around 1300-1400 lbs.

10gal fuel: 80lbs
50qt Cooler: 80lbs
On board electrical system (battery, inverter, switches, misc) 80lbs
Camping gear (sleeping bags, water (12gal), stove, misc utensils: 180lbs

That puts me at 1420lbs, well within the tow rating of my Jeep. One nice thing thing is the trailer brakes. With the P3 controller and 10" drums it stops really well behind the Jeep. I was a little worried that the added weight even with the electric brakes was going to make braking difficult, it actually does very well.

So now plan a getaway and give a shake down.

Great looking build! I have a late 40's Civilian Bantam that is mostly stock except for the 3 axis hitch.
Where did you get the caster wheel on your trailer jack?

Thanks!

I purchased an 8" pneumatic swivel wheel assembly from Harbor Freight, bolted it to the jack. Makes rolling the trailer really easy.
