Got some welding time in today...

Since my trailer didn't come with shocks, I had to make mounts.

Also complete the tongue. Added an 18" piece to the 48" tongue I got through eBay. I wanted the tongue to be welded to the first cross member in addition to the front frame.

Going to take it easy Sunday:)

Next up is the tailgate. Need to straighten it out, weld some hinges and make the latches.

At this rate, I maybe done in a few more months;-)

Some more progress.

Got the floor in and completed the tongue box and Jerry can mounts. Also added some additional supports to the tongue. Almost there, getting closer to LineX.

Got the 3 axis hitch completed with tongue extension. The plan will be tow the trailer with the 2" ball in road, then switch to the off road hitch once on the dirt.

I did a few more things today...

Completed one of the Jerry can carriers. I went a little too big, but what the heck. 3/16" x 1 1/2" flat stock with 2x2x1/8" angle. I'm going to use a Garvin Wilderness Jerry can adjustable strap to support the can... Now all I have to do i finish the other one:)

Can someone recommend a roof rack to support the RTT?

I'm thinking of fabricating one, but with Craigslist around, I can probably find one.

I've seen lots of people use Thule square cross bars on the 10" Thule feet set up for rain gutters (using Thule's "fake" gutters bolted to the side of the trailer). I've also seen Unistrut and 80/20 racks as well. I have a rack built out of 1.5" square tubing bolted to mounts on the frame, I'm a few months away from completing my trailer but it looks like it will be plenty stout.

It's not a military trailer but the idea is the same... fake rain gutters bolted the tub sides, Thule racks mounted.

OK, it's been a while since I updated my post. Been working on the getting the top done and I'm almost there. Just need to skin it and get it LineX'd.

I got the tool box and side steps LineX'd, along with the mounting plate, gas cans and gas can holders.

I mounted the gas struts today and they work great. Ended up with two (2) 150lb struts. I first I thought it was going to be too much, it's perfect with the RTT mounted. I figured the top and RTT together weigh in at just under 300lbs.

Now I just have to weld the floor in, complete some tailgate misc items and I'm ready for LineX and paint. Once i get it back the wiring begins. I'm going with one AGM 12v battery. 400W inverter a solar charger and misc LED lighting...

Been a while...

Here's the completed (almost) build...

Line-X throughout with a twist.... Aspart-X used as the color. Aspart-X is a heavy duty floor covering: Figured it would be a good product to use on the tub.

Still need some details to complete... Electrical, wiring and some misc fab stuff. But other than that, it tow GREAT! Oh, have any of you used Windoweld urethane before???? Its pretty good stuff.

The lid is different.....changed directions? Having just built one from steel the other one must have been a beast. I like the trailer looks good in the drive. Can't wait to see pics out using it. Good build.

I like the flat lid. If I should ever get a RTT I think Im just gonna mount right to my lid. Im not sure I see the need for another rack to mount the tent on. maybe Im missing something though?
