Barn Door for JK factory hardtops

I was talking about the one to replace the net in front of the shifter
The next step on that project was to find the right double-sided tape to secure it to the plastic of the center console. I didn't have enough confidence in the 3M Automotive Mounting Tape I used for the initial test, it seemed too easy to pull off so I thought it might fall off over time.

Anyway I showed the design to Overland Outfitters and they didn't seem enthusiastic about it so I didn't pursue the project any further.

If anyone has suggestions for mounting tape that works well on the slippery Jeep console plastic I could try that out and maybe revive the project.

Back in post #5,319, I showed how I used the MORryde ammo can tray. I have since changed up how I’m using it.

As I'm using the JKU less and less these days, I'm thinking maybe I should get rid of some of the JKU accessories that I haven't used in a long time. First on the list to go probably will be my half doors. Never got around to painting them to match the JKU and they've been hanging in the garage for a long time. The wall-mount door hanger would go with them, as would the one-of-a-kind hard uppers with slider windows. If anyone is interested I'll consider offers...

I'm at the Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion this week; MORryde is here showing the production version of their new fridge/cargo slide. It's a Jeep show so they're showing it in a JL Wrangler. Photos of the slide in their display Jeep are attached, along with photos from when I did a test install for them in my JKU. I think of it as a fridge slide + cargo; the MORryde display showed it with a fridge and an Action Packer. They say it retails for $315.00 and they were handing out 10% + Free Shipping cards, making the price $283.05. The mounting brackets are extra, I don't know the price of the JLU or JKU brackets. The tray is at https://morryde.com/products/jeep-bronco-slide-out-tray/

I posted a while back that I bought a new Grenadier and I'm outfitting it to replace my Wranglers for expedition use. If anyone is interested in following along with my outfitting, mods and new designs for Grenadier accessories, it's in the Grenadier section of this site: https://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/outfitting-my-grenadier-trialmaster.247640/

Traitor! Infidel! :D

I don't log in here for a year and complete chaos ensues.

I'll check out the new hoity toity rig and your build out. Congratulations.

Jeeps in my garage still outnumber the Grenadier 3-1 and I drive all of them regularly. The LJ is primary daily driver and my wife chooses the JKU. The pickup gets used all the time getting materials for renovations on the 200-year old house we moved into a little over a year ago. The only things I'm not doing is using the Jeeps for expeditions anymore, that task goes to the Grenadier, which I just used offroad/camping in Death Valley and offroad in Moab.

And I have several new storage product designs for the JKU/JLU that will probably become Overland Outfitters products.

Yesterday a new Auxbeam switch panel was delivered. For some years now I've had a good relationship with Auxbeam and when they release new switch panel products they send me one to review. I've also reviewed a number of their excellent lighting products over the years.

KnobPanelArrived.jpg

The new "Knob Switch Panel" is an 8-circuit unit with some groundbreaking features, including the ability to dim lights controlled by it, various "bling" options such as chase lights and strobe lighting (there are actually legitimate non-bling uses for some of these special features, I'll cover them when I review it). There are also external trigger inputs and can turn on a circuit when some other circuit turns on, for example you can connect a trigger to a the brake light circuit in the vehicle and when the brake lights are activated the system will activate one of it's circuits - useful if you want to have extra brake lights that nobody can miss. Add the strobe function to that circuit and for sure nobody will miss the extra brake lights.

I'll bench-test the product in the next week or two and post a detailed review, photos and probably videos of some of the features. Stay tuned.
