That's very cool to hear! The more options for us the better...I'm certainly interested in seeing them developed and picking up a set.

Give Nathan at CBI Offroad a call. He can give you an estimate as to when they will be available and potentially the price. I am guessing they will be able to start building them out in 6-8 weeks.

Some odds, ends, and teasers

Here are a few pics of what will be the skid for the aux fuel tank and a little something else..

Teaser 1: Can anyone guess what this is? Not exactly to spec but will be similar.

Teaser 2: Any guesses where this will go?

That last one (pic above) in will go below the front bumper. It's part of the skid package no doubt. Where are you sourcing your aux fuel tank from? Are you planning to run a dual filler neck or have two fuel doors/necks? If so, where's the second one going to be located?

Very close. :)

We are still figuring this piece out, and a few other items around the fuel tank. It will most likely be a transfer tank rather than a true aux fuel tank, due to all of the lovely California State emissions and regulations we have out here. Once we get closer to answering these questions I will post a section just for the fuel tank.

Great looking 80 you have in your profile pic by the way!

aausmana,

I saw your license plate holder and wondered where you are. I am literally down the street from those guys.

I haven't been in a lot of off-roading trips since our daughter was born but that is changing - we just got back from Death Valley with some friends to check out the wild flowers. If you guys have the time - you should check it out. Amazing.

Just got a new project vehicle - 2013 LX570 and the goal is 35's WITH a functional AHC, gathering parts for it and plotting. We will see. I have a long list for it just like 100 and it will be used just like that one -- well maybe not go through the Rubicon like that one did ;-)

Thanks. I have a dual filler neck in the 80 feeding the main tank and aux transfer tank (works by pulling a knob out) which directs gas to the aux tank when filling. My aux tank is the stock sub tank so it fits like a glove and you can't even tell it's there.

I am wondering if I can get a stock sub tank and dual filler neck from Australia for the 200 and do the same thing. It's on my list of to do's. I'll be watching what you come up with.

Thanks.

I4C 4LO - Nice! I am in Menlo. Yeah, we are starting to plan for our first within the next 12-18 months. That also put some emphasis on trying to get my build done prior to the arrival of our little one so we could just pick up and go whenever we're ready after the addition. I bet Death Valley was amazing. Will you be posting any pics up of that trip?

Very nice! I debated building out a 570, love that car, but ultimately decided on the LC200 because of the AHC, compressor, aftermarket parts (although I went custom anyway), etc. Will you be putting a build thread up on the LX or do you have one of your 100 series? How did your 100 do with the Rubicon? I am planning on taking mine up there in the coming months.

Either way, we should get out there sometime soon. I can't wait to get mine back.

*Almost forgot to ask* - are you planning for any regearing running the 35's? I am thinking about going to 35's in the future but don't want to play around with the gearing if I don't need to.

Nice, I saw some of those 80 dual filler necks with the knob, pretty clean but wouldn't work for the 200 series.

I think you are a little safer than I am being in OR. CA is pretty strict with it and would easily be able to tell there is a tank in the spare tire location even with skid plates. Now that all the newer cars have emissions control tied to the EVAP system it gets trickier...fuel cap test for pressure, etc.

I know Long Ranger has a nice tank for the 200 series with a dual filler neck but it is not plug and play with the 200 series here in the US. I think there are other threads on this one being from Cruiser Outfitters build thread that was moved to ih8mud: http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/aux...d-from-cruiseroutfitters-build-thread.906892/

I think the easiest, although not most efficient, way to get this done for my needs and to fit within the regulations, will be to make it a transfer tank. I will have 25+ gallons of fuel in the spare tire location, protected, which I will just stick a hose into the main fuel filler neck to transfer fuel. I will have to be stopped yes, but I don't foresee driving 240-270 miles without the need for a stop at that time anyway.

Start of the front

We have been discussing the front bumper and what we wanted. The LC200 is already a heavy bear, with the gear, gas, H2O, etc. it will be tipping the scales. I opted for a Warn Endurance 12. Reviews have been good and CBI had one they could offer at a very good value. I know Kurt @ Cruiseroutfitters is using a VR10K which had me leaning in that direction, the decision was based on a little more winch capacity at a lower draw and the price-point I was able to get it at. Yes, will be going synthetic rope.

I love the ARB bumpers but they just stick out a little much for my taste. Steve at CBI really does some amazing work - have I said that yet?

Here is where we stand with some roughs. All plastic up front is gone.

Remember this guy.. it will house the 30" LED light bar and winch.
IMG_5302.JPG

The design will hug the lights and provide a massive amount of clearance up front.

Sweet build! It definitely takes a shop like cbi to do the 200 series justice! There work is top notch for sure. Can't wait to see the end result. Let me know if your ever in nor cal and want to hit some trails, I'd love to see what the 200 could do as I have been tossing around the idea of selling my 100 for a 200.

Thanks Benc! Love what you're doing with your bumpers as well.

I'm in the Bay Area but am thinking about doing the Rubicon in April or June. May also hit Yosemite/High Sierras then. Will be posting some more updates this week and driving her home in two weeks.

Thanks!
I think you would definitely be the first 200 series on the rubicon, I'm about an hour from the rubicon an do plan to give it a go in the 100 this year. There are a lot of nice areas around those parts.

It might be a nail-biter but I would like to give it a go. Will give the 200 series a whole new meaning :) I am confident she could do it, slow and steady.
