Front is mostly done. Just waiting on new lower arm cam bolts. The old ones were just hammered with corrosion. I'll then button it up, grease everything, and give it an alignment. It wasn't without some fun however. That axle is heavy AF. And my finger paid for it. Not broken, just bruised, but boy howdy!!!

Looks like that is going to hurt for a while.

Truck is looking good. What paint did you use?

Always tinkering, I know the sickness. Love the progress.
Wow, nice job on that front end! Looks brand new again!

Yes it's a throbbing today for sure. Things definitely showed down since. But it's all but done. Just need to put one new end link on, put on the tires, then do an alignment.

I used Steel- it. I love the stuff. And I use Seymour rust converter for any remaining surface rust that may have existed after sanding, before the final paint.

That steel-it sure does a nice job! But wow it hits the pocketbook!! Great looking truck!

Yes it's not cheap at all, but I've yet to find anything better finish wise/strength wise. It's pretty well on par with marine grade high end epoxy.

I am going to try the two you recommended on my 6x12 utility trailer. I think the manufacturer just sprayed some cheap rattle can on it.

Your truck looks too good for the title of this thread. You either need to beat the truck with a chain or change the title of the thread.

You are doing great work.

Awesome! Yes I think you will be impressed with them as a product. Just remember, it's honestly 90% on the prep, lots of wax and grease remover, LOTS of sanding and allow the rust converter to do it's job for 24hrs. I generally do a haze coat with it, then come back and do two medium successive coats with the converter. Then wait 24hrs. Then I do a light sand on the shown surfaces, wax and grease remove it, then spray steel it. Be ready for the blast with steel it, it's about double the spray force of a standard aerosol can, and comes out quick. So haze coat it lightly at the beginning as best you can, then do your thicker coat/coats. And don't worry if it's blotchy at all, that will go away completely when dry.

Lol at the title. It honestly was/is a beater. 218k miles, daily drive it, and it looked hammered when I got it. It still needs alot more then you would think. But it's a good 5 to 10 footer. Thanks for the props, and I'm interested how your paint work comes out.

Alignment complete, and it rides SOOOOOO much better now. It's quite ridiculous the difference to be honest. I used CV-2 Redline on all the grease points yesterday prior to this mornings appointment. And added the swing out locks on both sides to replace the old bent ones on the EXP One rear bumper.

Thanks for the details but after reading this I was thinking never mind. I hate painting and this is a lot of work that I did not want to commit to. So, I looked at POR-15 but discovered its process has just as many steps. Actually a bit more since you have to paint over it for UV protection. This job may get contracted out. LOL

It's really not that bad. Wiping it down and sanding what you want smooth really doesn't take long, and if you don't care about the finish as much you can skip the sanding, just clean, convert, then top coat.

I totally get that. Recently, I found a car that is close enough to one of my all time favorite cars that I wanted to pick it up. Super cheap too.

Wrong year but close enough. Might even be able to swap out the front to correct it.

What the plan would be:

But then I realized, I don't want to spend my weekends tinkering. I've had several classic cars that never got beyond project car status.
I'd rather be out on my bike or exploring. And, what would I do with this car? Go get groceries? Participating in car shows isn't my thing.
