Been awhile...

So I was on here last year. Can you all believe it's taken me a year to find the right Montero. Most were trashed, not well taken care of, beaten to death off road etc.... Well I bought one today. A decently well cared for Green 91. Sure it's high in mileage, but what can you expect from an almost 25yr old truck. Here are two pics I snapped when I pulled it in the driveway.

I'll post more as I clean it up.

Are there any first orders of business I should be aware of? This is my first Montero. I've always been a Land Rover guy, so although mechanically inclined, I don't know a TON about Monteros.

Thanks all.

Before starting to build, I would;

1. Inspect the timing belt(theirs an inspection cover)
2. Look at tail pipe smoke and if it smokes at idle and on hills plan for valve seals.
3. Just the usual checks of hoses, belt, fluid condition, ect.
4. Check cooling performance thoroughly

Then as additional required maintenance;

5. Do a Rear trailing Arm Swap to gen 2(stock ones will snap even on a dirt road)
6. Add Gen 2 Springs and KYB shocks to stop bottoming out
7. Rock Sliders
