I love my 06 DC tacoma, however everytime I have it in 4Low It beeps and beeps. Anyone know of a way to turn this OFF?:ar15:

it's fully engaged in four low and alerts you to the fact the whole time it is in four low.

an alarm will sound when the shifter is in 4lo but not the transfer case.

Are you stopping, putting it in neutral, then shifting into 4lo?

I am 90% sure it shouldn't be beeping in 4low - something is wrong. sorry, I don't know why cause I have an 03 taco, but you could go search on TTORA.com for an asnwer.

On the 05+ it does not beep when in 4-LO. Is the light for 4-LO flashing on the dash while it's beeping?

Are you in neutral when switching?

You have to do the same thing when you take it out of 4-Lo or it'll beep then too.

It shouldn't do that. Are you in neutral when you shift? The sequence is in the owners manual. Does the light flash also? Is the green 4wd icon on(not flashing?), "4low" in amber should come on and not flash or beep when switch is moved to 4low. If it flashes, switch back to 4hi, roll forward a little, shift to neutral, then move switch back to 4low. Some times the gears don't mesh properly, that's why you need to roll forward some times. When it flashes, are you in 4 low or high? You'll know, 4 low only goes max 40mph at 4,000 rpm (overdrive is locked out in 4 low). If you are indeed in 4 low, and the light still flashes, there is a problem with the sensor, and needs to be fixed.

So it should go: green 4wd icon(front axle engaged), amber "4low" icon, red 4wd icon (if you have the TRD locker). Nothing should be flashing.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

It is not engaging properly from the sounds of things. The 4low flashes with each beep. And there doesn't seem to be any reduction. I have always thought the low range sucked but figured It was because I was used to my T-18 dana 300 combo.

thanks for the input, I'll call the dealer in the morning.

Yep, you got it. If you fully stop, put it in neutral, and shift in 4lo, it should engage the low range and the light will come on solid. If it doesn't, the 4lo engagement was not successful.

When you are in 4lo it is very obvious from a gear ratio standpoiint.

Scout?

No, it's not engaging, make sure to push in the clutch all the way and put in neutral and if come to a dead stop if you have to. if its an auto just put it in neutral, shift to 4hi first too! then into 4L

Edit: Make sure you're in 4H before you try to switch into 4L or it won't work.

4hi you should be able to just flip the switch as long as youre not going over like 60 (?)
