Beer Question

When I'm camping I drink gin&tonic. I buy the 8oz. cans of tonic at TJs and they crush flat after use. I like beer but hate all the empty bottles. When we camp in Baja we have to carry all the garbage back the the US because even if you try to properly get rid of garbage/recycling in Mex it just winds up beside the road somewhere. We are really careful about how we pack our food etc. to really minimize garbage during the trip.

Thanks for all the input. I think that I'll bring a couple of glass bottles on the next trip. Don't drink that much anyway, so trash should be limited. Just didn't want to have bottles break and have no beer to cry into. :shakin:

After a few trips with bottles in the fridge inside the cab, I noticed a lot of clanking. We've since put the bottles in coozies to prevent them from clanking together (and possibly breaking). It also helps to keep your hand warm in cold weather when holding a cold beer. The only drawback is lost volume in the fridge due to the thickness of the coozies.

Bottled beer won't break in a cooler of ice or ice and water, really it won't. I swear it's magic.
I've pulled long necks out of an ice chest that looked like they were in frosted glass. Never had one break in over thirty years of off roading and boating.

BUT I think the amount of ice that'll hold isn't enough to keep all that beer cold unless you've got a bunch of hard asses with you to make quick work of it.
And once you get where you're going, like psychohawk said, all you get is foam...

Through the years, I have never had an issue with bottles. BUT, on the trophy, I had some of the new Guinness bottles in a stormcase and they all popped. They didn't break, they popped the caps off or partially off and dumped the contents out into the case. A major mess.

Now I get the Guinness cans :)

I just don't want to chance it inside of a dry fridge. It would be quite a mess to clean up!

The Guinness cans are awesome for inside the fridge. Easy to stack, and no worries of breakage. Plus, you get more ounces of tasty goodness than the bottles!
