Best Awning?

Gotta love the pics in that link. $1300 MSRP and still no shade.

LOL. I'm sure that it was done so that the picture came out more clearly, wouldn't want that awesome Land Cruiser blacked out by shade! ;).... OR one could just buy the side-walls!?

That is why I went with the ARB, it extends further out than almost any other brand. That said, it still makes my wife roll her eyes as I carefully calculate exact parking angle to provide optimal shade over maximum timeframe :)

I am shopping for an awning for my adventure trailer and could use a little help. I am trying to keep it under $500 for starters and am considering and ARB 2000. I saw a YouTube video and it looked like a PITA to set it up. Please throw out the good, bad and the ugly. I only want to buy this once. Is there something better?
Thanks,
Dave

Do you want to leave it extended when its raining AND windy/gusty?

I'm also looking for an awning to add to my trailer. The trailer is only 5 feet long and I want to keep it at that length so it keeps a snug fit. So, unless I find something else that works I am currently looking at the Shadyboy. I'll hook it up on a swivel so it can be moved around to follow the sun. Looking at something like this:

I like the way it expands bigger the it's size when packed up. If there are similar awnings out there I'd appreciate a heads up on them.

Cheers, Steve

I have a wrap around Supa-wing awning from Supa-peg in Australia.
The great thing is the design to stay up in wind or rain and does not need ropes to hold it down (but they can be added for severe conditions). It is made from heavy canvas and the base of the poles have a flat piece with holes to be pegged down to the ground. The top of the poles have a bent hook to hold the canvas from lifting up. I have had it up in fairly stormy conditions overnight and so far never lifted off. If it is going to be very windy, I can lower all the poles height to limit wind lift and aid rain runoff, then put ropes and big pegs on the corners, but so far have not used them.

I really like that one! Just need to figure out if I can get it in Canada somehow....

I'm sure they would send it but the shipping might blow the price out a bit.

This is the one I have. I also got a side and rear mesh and solid canvas wall to cut the wind or rain. Also a mosquito mesh room will fit under the rear or side for protection from biting things.

This is the on line sales link to have a look at.

You can get them in several lengths from 2. to 3.5 meters long.

I'm in Vancouver so shared shipping may be cheaper. However:
I need convincing.....
Quick stops - Hannibal side and or rear awning. But stored in canvas bag.
Protection - Eezi Awn rollaway. Storage in ally box and the fabric really is rot proof. Safe from those nasty (sawn off) branches we unfortunately encounter.
Supa Wing - Have actually been looking at the 2m Hannibal version but have not found any opinions, even on the SA forums. The Supa wing does look good though.
