I was given my first camera as a gift for last Christmas. A Canon G11. After my first trip I couldn't get enough. I upgraded my camera a few months ago. These are the best so far.

I would say we all are in big trouble if you are getting captures that nice after less than a year in the hobby. Several in that set that would be great wall hangers. :victory:

What camera body did you upgrade to? I ask because I love the night star shot with the Milky Way details so clear.

yep, that's the lens that is on my camera about 80% of the time. Love it.

Out of curiosity - I noticed many are using SmugMug, and no one Flickr. Is there any specific reason for this, or is it just where you started so it's where you are?

Hi Chazz, You have lots of great shots. For just learning and using PNS cameras I think your doing great. Photography seems to be a long never ending journey. That's what makes it so fun. :wings:

I never used Flicker but I started using Photobucket. I did not like how they down graded the image quality and threw a bunch of ads at you on their website. With Smugmug my images are untouched and I can upload any size I want. They also have great customer service if you ever need some advise.

Chazz you have a great eye- just need some gear that can capture what you see. A tripod would help a lot until you upgrade your camera.

I didn't like the limitations and lack of image protection from Flikr. I have an account but doubt I even remember the password. I started with the basic smugmug account which is $35 a year. Still offers unlimited space and limited customization. You don't need anything beyond that unless you are looking to sell prints or want to completely customize your site.
