I used both GIA and Garmin.

The Gia app on my android phone is faster & more accurate than my Garmin 680.

I don't use Gia for tracks or locations I want to keep private.

That seems like the safest policy. I do use GAIA for all tracking and waypoints, but have my default setting as private. While that works 99% of the time, I have had a track show up on the “public tracks” layer when I fumbled some keystrokes!
