I will start with the bolt extractor help you remove all that rusted stripped bolts.

After working on my LR3, while knowledge is good, these are great. I cannot believe that a vehicle that once cost upwards of 50K has the crappiest nuts and bolts on it, every single one seems to be rusted. I mean my 70 Chevelle caused me less of a headache than my 2005 Rover.

Wife who lets you borrow her car to go to the parts store for that one but you forgot about until after you took your car apart

As a serious answer, I agree with Matt, the factory service manual is invaluable to carry in your truck, since there have been many times that I've needed to either fix something myself on the trail, or more often I will be in some small town somewhere that the guy at the local garage looks at my Defender and says "Golly, what's that, I never saw one of those things before".

That's when the manual comes out, and Bubba and I tackle the problem together.

:)

As far as actual tools? The LR Hub tool is a must carry. Many small shops will have everything you need to change a wheel bearing, half-shaft, etc, but they wont have the correct hub tool, and if they try to improvise it can cause damage to the truck.

A motor repair instructor, as going by the above , the standard of maintenance must be appalling , if you have so little faith in your landrover , I carry a tow pole on mine to render assistance to others :smiley_drive:

Humorous for sure, but this seems like this is leaning towards brand bashing...

I don't prefer owning land rovers, but I like them, and I certainly don't want landy owners to feel slammed by the portal.

1. No brand bashing, but it is appropriate to cite specific issues with models and equipment. i.e. "Toyotas Suck" is not appropriate, but to say "The FJ Cruiser suffers from the worst driver visibility in the class" is appropriate.

It's alright Brian, everone knows the portal is heavily biased toward the 'yota line up. It's OK though, it's like a long time friend coming out of the closet, sooner or later they will see the light and come to grips with what they really want....and that's a Rover!

Now the only tool to cover all eventualities no matter what brand is.......
