Best tool that a land rover owner should have Thread

It cracks me up that the Toyota guys still troll the Rover section.

Funny how you guys still care. I actually like Land Rovers. What's the big deal that a Toyota guy comes over hear to check things out. Next time we will make sure to ask permission first. Geez.

OK OK... I'm sorry.

Its funny, I own one of these and NEVER use it. It seemed I still spent more time turning and lifting the driveshaft to get the socket on there than it was worth. I use two 6 point 9/16" combination wrneches and it takes me less than 10 minutes to pull a driveshaft.

I have a dolly and I have to pull the rear shaft all the time when I put the 90 on it. I can get at 3 of the bolts most of the time straight off with this and then turn it slightly to get the 4th. Takes much less time for me than the old way of messing with a couple of wrenches. Its useful for the nuts on the diffs as well.

I ordered one of those propshaft tools, it never came in, at least not in the time frame I needed it (that time). I'm surprised by the stripped bolt issues, I've been amazed at how much torque I've put on various bolts and never came close to stripping or snapping one. Very good steel there on the earlier models or maybe I'm just doing it wrong... Hope I didn't jinx myself.

Not sure if it matters anymore but... I have a land cruiser but I spend more time over here with the Rovers. I grew up wanting a disco but when the guy who owns 8 land rovers (a trusted friend) tells you (me) to buy a land cruiser, you buy a damn land cruiser! I've been happy with my 80's but one day I hope to be rich/handy/dumb/fed-up enough to just buy a disco.

You do not need to be rich you need to be handy and choose the right year ,i bought a 94 because of its simple electronics and i fix most the stuff on it and i live in an apartment with no garage,i think a land cruiser 80 is the best to have never wheeled one but i like the looks ,yet a lot of people say toyota last for ever BUT you have to maintain it my neighbour had a 97 4runner (started ,ring and pinion, electronic module to control window rust like there is no tomorrow etc )
The same as land rover maintain it you will not have problems remember
Murphy's law it does not exist it does not break
