unrelated to this thread but that photo has me pining for summer, doing the island this summer with a buddy from Kelowna, apparently you can link up a lot of the west side by dirt these days… ahh the waiting…

He’s on a 690, I’m on a 701, should be able to get into a lot a places.

So many places to ride on the north isle. So much info shared out there now! But little mention of the gates easy to ride around on bikes like those, or other abandoned FSRs.

I ride a '23 F750GS, great bike but for a long touring trip I'd say you'd need a wee bit more power. The Triumph Scrambler you mentioned is a rock solid ride but if you're not mechanically inclined I would stick with the Japanese bikes, especially used. Not as sexy as the European brands but they won't leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere.
