BFG KM2 in 255/80x17 on stock offset wheels?

I have 285/75x16's at the moment and yes, they are a heavy tyre on a steel 16x8 rim.....which is why I was considering this on a stock 17x7.5 steel rim, thou Im concerned that the standard +30 offset wont be enough to clear the stock UCA's.....

Here are two images of the rubbing issues at the driver's side front wheel well. The first image shows where the front liner needed to be trimmed. Some have reported that they needed to trim the lower corner of the bumper itself. The second image shows the two areas being rubbed by the tire at near full turn.

I see the cause now, factory wheels. The backspacing is too high....I don't rub in any of those places with my aftermarket wheels and the same tire size and same tire. But I also don't have a sway bar any more either, and I have the Icon UCA's.

If you want to keep the factory wheels, Spidertrax wheel spacers will probably help with the rubbing.

The main reason I run a custom back space 4" with my 285 70 17. ( no rub at all )

My winters with the stock wheels (285/70/17) rub when at full lock on the UCA's, so I don't do full lock.

I don't recommend wheel spacers for anybody running a daily driver (trail rig only). Makes the steering wobble and give an uneasy feeling to the wheel. I've ran spacers in the past and hated them.

Interesting. You are the only person I have seen that has complained of these problems using spacers. What type of spacer and how big? Those using the Spidertrax 1.25" spacers have had great results. You can find a metric ton of good reviews with none of the issues you mentioned both at www.toyota120.com and www.fjcruiserforums.com. Several of the guys I know here in town that wheel with us have the Spidertrax spacers, with most having well over 50,000 problem free miles.

I bought a set of all-pro spacers at 1.5".

I wanted to run a 33x11.5 tire on my stock wheels until I could afford new wheels with the 4" back space. (which I have now) and spacers would be the cheapest option. I set them up and torqued them properly and still had this loose feeling to the steering and wobble, almost like flexing? Maybe the wheel spacers I had did flex under load to much on eh road? I even tryind them with my winter tires to see if it was maybe just the tires, but same thing there too.

I don't have any experience with the Spider trax ones, but I know spider trax builds some killer products. Maybe they build their spacers better?

I bought the tires used, so I am not sure how many miles they have on them. I am estimating about 60k. They are getting replaced in the next week or two. I am planning on going with wheel spacers, but I haven't figured out where the spacers are going to cause me to rub. I think I may need a body lift to clear the top of the back wheel wells and the edge of front bumper. Anyone have any info on the rubbing with wheel spacers?
