Bigger Alternator/Generator

What is the largest alternator (amp) I can put into my 96 LC? Has anyone installed a generator into the engine compartment to run AC power? I saw a Redcross truck that had a belt driven AC generator running right next to the stock alternator.

look for an upgrade to run my electrical accessories.....

Look on ih8mud. A poster named Photoman has instructions for mounting a Tundra alternator with more output.

WHy do you need more power, though? The stock unit does a decent job.

I have three radios, the fridge two batteries and inverter to power. My sons just put a 600 watt stero in it so when they BORROW my truck. I just think having more amps may help the charging system.

The thread is HERE

He manufactured and sold quite a few brackets to swap in a 130a or 150a tundra or seqouia alternator. Contact him to see if he has anymore brackets available.

I did the swap and it was very straight forward. The mounting bracket is top quality.

thanks.... I just sent him an email to check.. So how did your system work for you after the upgrade? Have you actually measured to see what the output was?

Has anyone heard of installing an AC generator?

On my 22R I built the mounts to install a Delco CS-130. Stock pulley bolted on. 104 amps stock, replacements easily available pretty much anywhere in the US. My 60 will be getting the same alternator, but it comes already installed on the TPI engine.
