Bitten by the van bug...

So I've become a obsessed with 4x4 camper vans as of late. I keep finding myself searching craigslist and Google images almost daily...and late into the night. Unfortunately, right now I'm finishing grad school (i.e. broke) and nursing a Toyota 4x4 in need of repairs. Actually, I hope to keep the Toyota in the long run, but also hope that after school I can someday soon afford to start building a van for longer camping trips to out of the way places.

Since I can't realize that dream for myself I thought I would post up some vans I found for sale in case anyone else is looking and ready to buy. I do not know any of these people personally. I am just sharing what I've found digging around on the interwebs. Enjoy!

They are still fun in 2wd! You are in Portland, you can get away without 4x4 for now. I bought my van right around your area, and went back for axles from another guy in Mollala. All the good vans and parts are down your way, the stuff around Seattle is junk! Good luck with the purchase.

Nice selection of vans there, you've done some digging! Some of them would be quite a project, thats for sure.

Happy to hear you've got the van bug!

Is that a hard-side pop-top?? Interesting....

The bug bites hard, but you don't have to start with 4wd.

If I were ANYWHERE close I would go for that 675 dollar van--perfect donor for my 2wd '94.

That's funny you say that. I always look in Seattle because there always seems to be so many more vehicles up there. And yes, 2wd can be fun, but I've been there and done that....1984 Vanagon and a 1977 Dodge 1-ton ambualance.

The bite sure does seem to be contagious! Sure, some are projects, but I figured some of the folks on here that might be looking are pretty talented at fixing things up to.

Happy hunting!!! also have you tried statewide lists?

What do you mean by; "statewide lists"?

You know, I didn't even notice that before, but I looked again and it sure does look like a hard-sided pop top. Very interesting for sure. I've had 2wd trucks and vans in the past and at this stage I much prefer 4wd....although seeing so many people do the conversion themselves does make me think that when the time comes that a (UJOINT) conversion is possible. And often the 2wd vans I see are in better condition anyhow.

I know! What a deal, even with the broken axle. Would it be worth shipping it to yourself?
