I had an awesome time exploring the Black Rock Desert last week. What a place! Coming from the Northwest and never having been to a real desert before, it was an eye-opener! I swung through it on my way home from attending Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. For more pics go to my facebook fanpage at www.facebook.com/villacresphoto I'll also be posting up some videos on my youtube channel at http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwKTZZ4w0iB5hr7XNcEaQLQ?feature=mhee

I've done a lot of wheeling and camping in my lifetime, but this was my first real overland trip and I loved every minute of it!

Great looking old Bronco there Rich.
Thanks for posting and I look forward to hearing about more of your outings. Feel free to post more pics here (as many of us can't hit other sites from work) and especially more of your thoughts while traveling. I love the desert and it is always cool to hear about other folks first experiences.

I have been going to the Blackrock since 1993 and I always find something/somewhere new to go. The sad part is the areas that used to be accessable that have been turned into wilderness. I would bet that you will be back, most that I have introduced have been back. It truely is an awesome place to explore.

Great pictures and great looking Bronco.

I miss that place! In the early '90s, I used to live right next to it, in a little town called Empire, NV (population=350). Lots of good memories. After work, a quick run to the Black Rock hot springs for a soak and watch the stars before going home. Like most things, I didn't appreciate that area as much as I should've and now I regret it. Sigh, I need to return to that place with my daughter before she grows up.

Can't watch videos at work. :( Where did you stay? Did you visit any of the (many) hot springs in the area? I love the BRD.

Also love the 78 Bronco. One of my favorite designs - a real classic!

I'm old enough to remember when the "new" Bronco came out in 78 and there was much gnashing of teeth and rending of clothes that Ford had killed off the old Jeep-sized Bronco. But the 78-79 Broncos were very nice looking vehicles, IMO better looking than the long-lasting FS Bronco of 1980 (I think) to whenever they were discontinued - I'd guess around 1998 - 2000 or so after the Expedition came out.
