Black Series fire hazard

Yeah the escape.
The frame is welded rectangular tube, and it's not framed with particle board inside. Both i consider improvements over the R-POD which I also looked at. But still a torflex axle.
I don't have the money to swap a pair of axles on a brand new trailer right now.
I hear ya. Not sure if it would even help. And not something I'm likely to do to our trailer either.

I wonder if a Tibren style setup could work somehow?

I had the 2000lb Timbren suspension on a little "overland" trailer I had and it worked really well, but I don't know if I would use it on a new trailer, or even a custom one. A slightly more traditional, easier to source/repair type of setup appeals to me more. Kimberley Karavans use independent trailing arm suspension, with a shock at each wheel; that's probably the route I'd go.

not sure if they are still in business, but there was a company called Moreryde that did independent suspension conversions?

We need a conversion kit like this in the US. It would make a small trailer like a S-POd 100% better:

Near swap for timbren style suspension. Geo pro is using it on their 19fbth. Definitely something to look at if your trying to ge away from the faulty torsion axles plaguing all the various brands right now.

black series did me a favor. they refused to answer my questions that the dealer forwarded them. they didnt like me raising issues about their electrical system.... so i bought my dominator used. spent a fraction of the price and upgraded tons. very, very happy. it will go anywhere ANYWHERE. only limitation is the driver's abilities IMO. only thing i would change is to make it 1000lbs lighter. it's a bit much for an old 4runner.

if i were to do it again and wanted new, id by a no name trailer that is the exact duplicate of my trailer but without the bs name from alibaba. i bet theyre all made at the same chinese factory.

ps. it appears bs-austrailia has been purchased. not sure if the american biz was included.

ps2. i recall getting into it w RVOA who were bragging about how great bs was in this forum. my understanding is they are phasing out selling bs.

Yes and they do the opposite of bragging about them. They keep it subtle as they have tons of customers who they want to sell thier current rigs too. Boy are the hyping what there selling know. But I guess that's what trailers dealers do right?

Yes its a US company
Geo pro actually runs their air suspension system on their 19ft toy hauler

Those over seas trailing arm systems are impossible to fix here unless you find someone with fabricator skills. The timbren axles have been really problematic since about 2017 ish and got exponentially worse during the pandemic. Bad swing arms not manufactured correctly many trailer brands having constant failure issues with them. Even on new units. Some if that is likely newbie trailer owners clipping curbs and dropping trailers off road shoulders but many people having issues are pretty experienced RVers who downsized. Definitely a ongoing big issue with the torsion style axles. Recent news is Taxa fed up with constant issues is having some kind of new axle system designed for their trailers. Intech so far continues to use the faulty axles and lots of owners are on #3 and many have simply sold their trailers

I was getting serious about buying 20ft and under rig just as the Pandemic hit. My top three were BC built Escape 17 or 19. Chatted up Grassland a bunch given he’s running a Escape 19 he had some good thoughts.
I put my shopping on hold due to the Pandemic. But was on 8 different owners groups watching the discussions on pricing and serious quality issues. The axle issue was stopping people in their tracks across every brand running torsion style axles. Many people stuck for weeks or months without a replacement.

many went through multiple axles?

As several COVIDRV buyer / families used their typical small trailers all of them came away with one major complaint. No secure place to stow bikes. Watching those dads really hate that issue. I scrapped my non toy hauler typical trailer idea given no doubt that would be a huge issue for my family. Once I shifted my target the suspension situation changed for the most part. Most of the small toy haulers either run other non torsion style systems or in Geo Pros case a pretty smart air ride swing arm adjustable setup.

So my 2,200 lb dry Trailer Marker is going to have Timbren 3500HD. They will install a alum square tube to connect each side together. They will be allined as well. Should I be concerned?

I think the joined torsion axles are less prone to the bent or failed swing arms that seem to be a constant failure point in these axles. I don’t doubt that some are likely over loaded or have taken side loading hits from dropping off road shoulders but many are nearly new hardly used trailers that suffer the /-\ bent arm alignment issues which are extreme enough to snag trailer body and fenders which is when many owners discover they have an issue.

Just thought I'd mention this, but Off Grid Trailers is owned by the same parent company that owns Escape and is one of the reasons why I went with OGT. They seem to have a good history, experience, and backing. OGT's standard suspension is the Timbren 3500HD axle-less setup but they just recently announced a new upgrade/retrofit suspension that was co-developed with Fabtech. Looks beefy (and probably expensive) but good to have options. OGT says they expect this to be available as a retrofit for the Timbren for any existing owners that want to upgrade, too.
