Bliss Mobil 8ft lifting roof debut at Abenteuer Allrad

I attended the Abenteuer Allrad in Germany this past weekend, great showings from Premier brands like Unicat, Action Mobil, FAS, KrugXp.

The one standout that was different than the rest was Bliss Mobil's new 8ft lifting roof.

The camper has been under development for some time now and will be under testing for the remainder of the year. The rep could not confirm when orders could be placed.

1050kg dry weight
330ah Victron lithium (optional to double)
Optional Air conditioning
210 litres of fresh water
Lifting bed similar of their other camper boxes.
€125,000 for the standard box
€25,000 for construction accessories (subframe)


Thoughts? Seems to be a great fit for 350/3500 trucks.

Really the Bliss was the most innovative camper I saw there. The blue ranger had a carbon fibre shell, but interior was unimpressive. Also 4 door Jimny was a neat little guy that I'm sure would sell loads stateside.

I am thinking a 10' box would be a better choice. But then, I remember that EC had the EXD that was a 10' popup box on the F350 and it was replaced by the TN with the cabover bed and then they went out of business. Guess I am going down a rabbit hole.........

I dig the overall size and the lifting roof to keep overall height down on the trail. But I'm not sure this one offers the full "liveaboard" room/features that folks in this price category are looking for. For $200k+ you can get a fully built out flatbed Total Composites camper.

I guess time will tell.

Looks like its built well. But honestly, for 135k USD Id expect more. Or to be more clear.... Id expect LESS. Far less weight.

A 2300# dry weight... and 55 gallon water capacity (another 500#) puts this box at near 3000#s before ANY gear or food is loaded.
So a realistic wet loaded weight is likely around 3500#. And displayed on an FJ ? :unsure:

That is a 79 Series LandCruiser, not an "FJ". Toyota designates engine "F" = 1F, 2F, 3F or 3FE, then J-Series Truck, then the model number, e.g. BJ-42, FZJ-80, etc. So a UZJ-100 = 2UZ-FE powered 100 Series LandCruiser with IFS. The 105-Series has a variant of the 80-Series solid front axle and would be referred to as a UZJ-105, if configured that way.

The 79 Series is generally diesel powered, likely by the venerable 1VD-FTE, so the truck would be sold as and referred to as a VDJ-79, not an "FJ". With a massive aftermarket supporting it, the engine can be tuned for 340 BHP and 600 foot-pounds of torque; the chassis can be extended by 300mm, up-rated to 4.2 tonne GVM and even converted to 6x6 with air-ride installed by JMACX. Would I do it? Nope. Will the 79 carry 3,000 pounds? Yessir.

An NPS, preferably a properly converted NPR, since the OEM version leaves much to be desired, would be a great platform for this box, preferably in the 109" or 132" wheelbase variants.

Finally, if you have never seen a box built by Bliss, Unicat or Action Mobil, you may think the product discussed above is just a box. It isn't. Total Composites is in a different Universe to this stuff. Habitats from the high-end manufacturers are damn near works of art.
