So a few weeks ago I decided I wanted a small trailer so i can think about a small teardrop style camper for myself. well I got one only problem is it came with a boat on it , but it was only 400$ CDN for the combo.



after a few days of waiting to decide on what to do with it i decided to save it. It had no gear in it whatsoever other then the beacon lights. Well I started to attack the problems one by one. and generally finding answers on YouTube. So the answers solved was throttle hook up and install, steering hook up and install. I already knew how to work on the hull and electrical but now its almost done . I want to put in a stereo , so I'm waiting on ebay to deliver . Also wanted is a sunshade and thats mostly figured out. may have to purchase another tarp to do it right. so heres the stuff i did to this 1962 piece of history a Power Cat 14T Tri hull

got the throttle installed and hooked up to a early 70's 7.5 hp Mercury . I'm looking for a cheap 40 HP Outboard.



got my out put figured out for the plug ins and charge station. from here I can plug my solar panels in and charge the battery


But its in the water runs floats moves .. I like it

A little beauty with classic styling. Except for the steering wheel it's hard to tell how old it is. That giant windscreen sure does makes it look bigger. And in good condition too.

Got a motor for it with a blown coil possibly.. BUT first I need a electric start for it. its 44 ci or roughly 750 cc its a little much to be flailing away on the pull cord . I love the classics but I also like not throwing my back or shoulder out . starter 100 is cdn and a coil 40 $ cdn ish. well if that gets this combo running I will be just over 1000 . In parts and outlay costs. And thats pretty darned good.

The cost so far 400 for the boat and trailer
400 for the motor thats a year match for the boat 1962..
Parts so far 400 coils points plugs starter wiring steering etc etc

so 1200$ Cdn .. i guess that works out to 32 dollars US or 18 Eruros..
If I have to pay the shop 2 hours for a tuneup if i cannot fine tune it i will accept that . SSSSSSOOOO close.
Way under having to break out another thousand !!!

Well when its done it will look brilliant. Ill be redoing it taking my time and filling the dents. Then doing a traction coat. Ill also be having to register it as it will be more then 10 hp

I took it to the shop today and the owner told me what was wrong with it in seconds . I suspected the issue but i will leave it to them to fine tune it for me . even itf it takes 300 $ in shop fees I will still be under 1500, for all of it . And thats a great deal I figure after this it will be normal wear and tear stuff.

Wasnt a 1000 but 250$ replacing the transom ......Ill be another few daystill Im done And the salmon are starting to run!

the hole is opened and cleaned


2 pieces of 3/4 oak plywood glued and screwed

1 layer front back 1 layer extra on the corners followed by 3 layers of clot and WEST SYSTEM I think i should be good after that.

Looks like a sweet little rig. I did the same thing about 5 years ago. Bought a little skiff a friend of mine had sitting in his yard for a few years. Little by little, I threw money at it when I had it available, and now it's the best boat around.

After all the work getting it on and strong. I cant believe im putting holes in it.. I guess it means i am getting close! drain holes for the transom 1/2 inch and 3 1 inch hull drains one for each of the tri hulls. one more go around on the perimeter and that part is done onto the dash and bow braces clean up paint fish!



I have also got My first fish finder ! 45$

That's a great hull to restore. It's a cat! Super stable and can run fast if you want it too. The size is right as well. Easy to tow, easy to launch, large enough for what you need and it sips gas. I had my fun with glass boats over the years. Glassed in a new floor and stringers in a 1967 16' Glastron. That boat got run hard for 10 years after the work. Since I've gone to Aluminum hulls. Current one is a little bigger to handle the big lakes out west but is powered like yours. 48hp evinrude with 6hp Yamaha kicker motor. Here are some pics from just this last two months.
