At the Paris Auto Show today, BMW introduced its Active Tourer concept vehicle.

It's a hybrid vehicle, with a 1.5L turbo 3 cylinder gas engine hooked up to an electric motor. Combined, they product about 150 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is estimated to be 2.5 liters per 100 kilometers, or about 95 mpg (US gallons).

Even more interesting than the vehicle's wedge shape (not as pronounced as the Range Rover Evoque's design) is the fact that the Active Tourer is front wheel drive. From BMW! Gasp!

The shape of things to come from BMW, this concept is not yet scheduled for production. It's likely that some elements of the Active Tourer will be first seen in a small SUV made from the BMW 1 series. Next to the Active Tourer, the current X1 SUV looks out of date.
