Bought my First Motorcycle!!!

Hey guys! I snoop around on the Expo Forum a lot in the Jeep area and like to do some exploring here in Central Pa. I have been itching to get a dual sport dirt bike ever since I rode a friends DRZ400 for the first time. I was keeping a eye out for a inexpensive bike! I recently found on craigslist a 1988 Suzuki SP 200. I wasn't to familiar with this bike but for 1000$ and in great shape with only 8100k miles I could not pass it up. I'll be picking it up this friday! Let me know what you guys think and if you have any information on the SP's. It seems like they are hard to find info for but are apparently similar to the DR200.
Thanks~
Doug

That looks like it would make a very nice trail bike. Let us know your impressions when you get a chance to try it out.

Looks like a lot of fun potential in a small package!

I have a rear hitch carrier that I use often on my RV, my full size truck and our JK Jeep. Check around for one for the hitch on your jeep (they often come up used on C)L...that small bike would fit and carry very well there!

That looks like a good bike.

That's a very smart move starting out on a bike like that. Getting experience on that bike will make you a better rider and a safer rider. I loved my first small Suzuki and learned I could go anywhere the the high dollar bikes could go. When I moved up to enduro racing at first the bike seemed harder to ride and pretty intimidating but soon I was able to zip through the woods with confidence. Experience is the more important than the bike you ride.

Take the MSF course, even if you don't plan on riding it on the road. It really is very enlightening. Good find on a nice trail bike.

Thank you everyone! I definitely do plan on taking the Motorcycle Safety Course which is actually right across from where I work here in Pa. I am looking for a Motorcycle Hitch Hauler so I can take it to my Cabin four hours away comfortably. The bike is street legal and I do plan on riding it to work as a commuter and a fun weekend adventure bike! I'm going to try to get out on it this weekend if it is warm enough! :)

A lot of the state forest roads in Central PA are groomed gravel. Let us know how well it drifts! I had a DR650 for a while but for offroad I would have preferred a 400. The 650 was too heavy to whip around.

Thanks everyone!

I had my first adventure on my bike this weekend! Rode to the Duncannon area of Pa which is just a short trip north of where I'm located in Mechanicsburg and Hiked a short part of the Appalachian Trail to a nice lookout called Hawk Rock! Here are some pictures of the hike. not too many pictures as all I had was my phone. I also took my new ENO Hammock and tried it out for the first time at the overlook! Awesome adventure. The little bike may not be very fast but sure is fun!!!
