Bought, not Built. My 2000 4Runner

That is a VERY nice rig. I wanted it pretty bad when it popped up on craigslist, but it was WELL outside my price range.....

I printed of the long list of (very sensible) mods done to that vehicle, and it is now acting like my 'to do' list for my 4runner.

Enjoy that ride.

Added some aux interior lighting this weekend.

Scavenged a lighted rocker switch from my ridgid led fogs that I had laying around (see the pattern here). Tapped into the cargo area 12v plug

Attached the strip lighting to my roll bar

Still have to attach the light strip a bit better but I'm pretty happy with it. The light output is pretty impressive.

I also started working on my hid projector retrofit but I'll post that up when it's complete.

After that's done, I'm starting a storage drawer/sleeping platform project.

Took the trucks into the mountains a few weeks ago to play in the snow. Pretty good time aside from the land rover guys getting stuck and blocking our retreat for a bit. This is the best photo I've got of the hid retrofit so far.

So a week ago I was driving along, minding my own when a nice Russian lady in a brand new Outback decided to make a right turn from the left lane. Needless to say, the runner took the hit like a champ. My slider took 90% of the impact with a little residual damage to the fender flare, front wheel and rear door. The outback was undriveable. I'm guessing she did between $3-4000 in damage to her car. It was ugly. I just need to sand and paint the slider, get a new wheel, and redip the flare.

This thing is still holding air and is completely in balance. Big plug for FN wheels

On the plus side, her insurance is covering the damage.

I've also got some new meats on order, once she's back from the body shop and the tires are mounted, I'll get some better poser shots.

Thanks, def a good thing there were no injuries. Should have a wheel on its way tomorrow and just need to sand and paint the slider. The up/down headlight adjuster also popped out so the truck has a bit of a lazy eye right now. Just going to swap in the old one from the stock lights. Glad I hung on to them now!

FN Wheels also sped a new 5 Star to my door to replace this busted up thing

Drove carefully (hauled ***) down to Discount Tire and an hour later, this emerged

Welp, my HID kit blew a fuse last night. Checked all the connections, everything looked solid so instead of trying to chase electrical gremlins down, I decided to pull them and go back to stock. Trying to keep things simple, last thing I need is another failure further away from home. Got an idea I've been kicking around for a bit, stay tuned.

Fresh start this morning, finally got around to installing my swaybar discos and poly swaybar bushings.

Old crappy, worn out links

Then, pulling out the ol bushings got complicated, busted bolts on both sides.

So got the right side done but only got the disco installed on the left side.

All in all, super simple job, just need to bust out the drill and tap and die kit to finish the bushing install, just didnt feel like getting into it today. There's a place south of me that rents garage space by the hour, might head down there next weekend and put the truck on a lift to get that done.

It's cool seeing that thing getting a new look on life. Tires look awsome on there, they fit the rig much better than the 265's. I will have a garage pretty soon here to work on all of these projects :Mechanic:

Great looking Runner Rich - which sway discos did you use on the rear? Just stripped one of mine and don't want to go stock. Thanks!

Thanks!

There's a guy selling them on T4R.org forum. His user name is MStudt. Pretty well made product and I think he offers a warranty. Just had to make a few minor adjustments to get the pins to fit properly. He has two versions, the single disco and the dual disco. The duals disconnect at two places, one at the middle of the link and one at the bottom. Makes it tons easier to relink once youre done playing. He makes them for the front and rear. Link to the thread below.
