Hey IRX, have you ever messed with tuning any of your Monteros, I was curious if anyone had come up with something similar to the DSM Link for them or if any after market ECU's? Down the road I might look at using one of the turbos I have on the shelf.

Tuning applies the same as the 3KGT's, I've done some minor stuff, but nothing major, I do have an SAFC for the truck though, that would be the easiest route or get a 96 and newer and it can be tuned via the OBD port.

Truck is rocking 37's, I might make up a few of the bumpers as fab kits and bring them with me for AZ people, there will be the ability to put a winch on it.

My Montero is a 98, do you have a link to more info? I have a Cornwell master scan tool but don't think it does any tuning per say, mostly just monitors sensor output.

If you have a 98 you might have a black box ecu, things like evo scan and **** can totally map the ecu.

Took it out for a drive today. Still have a little bit of the exhaust to finish up, the truck rides good, full clearance lock to lock in the steering.

What did you "clearance"? Just curious if you clearance the same thing cap510 did with his 37's. Also, to confirm, do you have a 2" BL or a 3" BL?

I have 2 inch with 37's, 3 inch might have been a little better, but oh well!

No confusion. Carlos/cap510 did the same to fit his 37's. Did you cut and weld or use a BFH to modify it. Detail shots of what you cut would be great if you have them. Also have you tested it at full articulation yet?

I'm wondering about articulation too...but, I have a feeling this isn't set up for rock crawling anyway. In that case, the 37's have got to be fun plowing through the snow!!!

What's the tire width on the 37's?

My 33x12.5's will rub ever so slightly at the back side of the front wheel well (mud flap mounting points), at near/full lock, when fully compressed (1"bl). I have the low pro bump stops and no sways, so they do compress a little more than stock.

I trimmed one side on the side of the trail at Sherman pass with a knife and a micro torch...it took all of 60 seconds. It fixed the rubbing, I just haven't done the other side yet!

Haha. Ok I'll break if all down for you guys.

I had stock suspension, no body lift, 35x12.5's on Chevy 15x10's, NO SWAYS, same trimming and had no real rubbing issues. There's videos of it going full articulation.

Now, I have 37x12.5 on 17x10's on 2 inch body lift. Same trimming as I did for 35's and I still have my sway bars, so less travel available. Should be good without rubbing issues.
