I just found this manual and portable espresso maker. Although the Handpresso is very handy, quick and clean the Presso's advantage is the ability to use any kind of beans...

Wow!! that is awesome. Something to give myself for Christmas I guess.

I like the idea of not having to use the packets and can use my own beans.

spressomon...you've opened my eyes to a whole new realm of luxury while camping.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the Pavoni stovetop espresso / capuccino maker...

There's a bit of a learning curve with this espresso machine because you control _when_ the espresso extraction will start/stop. Generally I've found the best method is:

- Fill the water container to the correct height, and place on heat. Wait until it boils.
- Meanwhile, fill the coffee filter part. Don't tamp.
- When the water is boiling, place coffee filter and screw-on top.
- Wait 2-3 mins, depending on efficiency of burner or stove.
- Open the espresso valve and watch. :)
- Close the valve, set aside the espresso, and wait another 2-3 mins.
- Open the steam valve / wand and steam milk.
- Combine the milk and espresso.

The trick with this espresso maker is to boil the water first, then add the coffee filter and close. That way you don't burn the grounds. You could probably do the same with any stovetop espresso maker, but I suspect it's easier with this one because the bottom part has a handle so you can hold onto it as you screw the top on. :)

Have not seen anyone post this one. It's what I use. http://www.rei.com/product/401040

This GSI espresso pot is mentioned back on page 1. It's a variant on the moka pot, where steam pressure in the lower pot forces hot water up through the coffee and into an upper pot, or out the spout into your cup. If you need to replace the gasket, check kitchen stores or online for moka pot gaskets.

Oops sorry I missed that. One thing I found out about this one on a very Hung over morning, is if you forget to put in the filter all the grounds plug up the drip tube and the pressure relief valve goes off essentially making a coffee volcano. That was a bad morning
