Brute with aluminum tray bed

This is a solid concept, and would provide considerable versatility. For example, FWC makes units specifically for these tray beds, which increase living space and storage lost to the wheel wells and bed nooks.

(Note: not sure if these linked images will display, as I am a member of the AEV board, and they are hosted there).

Saw it on the AEV board as well. Definitely a different option if they can refine the look of the bed a bit. Added functionality appears to be great.

Sweet rig and I can already see a ton of spaces for really cool trays/cabinets. I remember Chris from Campa using a "tray" system and had a slide out drawer that was over the frame, between the two uprights on the bed shown above. Held a TON of stuff too.

It also looks better than I expected it would. One of the hallmarks of AEV is always making the vehicle look stock/factory and elegant in their simplicity and integration. That is tough to do with a universal tray bed.

Saying that, I think the tray would look nice in black or paint-matched.

Now we're talkin'. Painted desert sand or similar would also look better than the raw Aluminum. I would still miss the ability to recline the seats in the cab though. Perhaps an "extra-cab" version of the Brute needs to be developed . . . :sombrero:

Reminds me of the tray back utes in Australia.

I'd be inclined to do that over the AEV custom box that is produced currently.

Another thing they could do is make the side removable and then make an aluminum (that is a hard word to spell) stock rails like on a farm truck. Then it could come up higher and not be too much heavier. Shoot, they could even make an aluminum topper for the normal Brute bed.

I just got it back from paint about 3 weeks ago. Same bed as on AEVs Brute. It works awesome. Planning on using it for some outtings this summer :)

It is a UTE ltd bed. I got it straight from UTE ltd. outta Seattle.

If you are talking about my dark green one, it has AEV 4.5" B-rate coils all around, with the spring relocators in the back to make the coil sat verticle. i've had as much as 400lbs in it so far, and it handled it just fine. Its a RE long arm, with the tri-link in the rear.
