A van based unit is much easier to maneuver off road, a 4 door F plus a 12-14' box is gonna be huge! But I understand IF you need the seating. My E450 is not the easiest to work on, but everything I've had to do was reached from the front , bottom or with the doghouse off. They pull the cabs off modern F series to do major maintenance. To each his own.
If you're converting to 4x4 & want 37's, get lower gears. My E450 came with a Dana 80 full floater 4.64 rear. Quigley changed it to the more common 4.56, I'm guessing that ratio may not have been easy to find for the 60 front. It's OK with the 255/85/16 s(about 34.5") but I think it would really lug with anything bigger
