Thanks guys.
1store, I agree. Where the axlr is now is a good compromise between tongue and axle weight.

I've made some more progress on the build. I decided on a removable jack for the front. I'll add another mount so it can be stored on the outside of the trailer while in travel.

I also got the floor sheet cut and put into place. All the sheet metal on the trailer will be 16 gauge hot roll steel.

I also started on the fenders. I've decided to go with a flat fender. This should help out in camp by providing extra table top space.

I also got the fenders welded up and the side skins cut ans installed.

Here is a shot of how the skins meet the fenders

I like it. Would love to meet up sometime and share some ideas. Have done two M100 trailers, and now have a samurai tub trailer. I would rethink the square corner on the back of the fenders though. Every time you walk around the back of the trailer, esp. in the dark-you will run into that corner. Maybe lose some table space but something like the front end? Possibly a partial 45 degree corner? You can get that tongue length back by doing a sliding tongue with multiple holes to choose the length you need. A small larger tube set back about 1/3 of the way from the front would do to support the inner tube, you would not need it full length. Top is gonna be heavy with 16 ga, but flimsy without it-no good options that I know of. I have not done a RTT yet, doubt if that is for my old body or not. STP60823.jpg

Thanks for the feed back. I'd love to get together sometime and kick some tires!
I had the same thought with the rear of the fender, but like you said it's a compromise either way. I'm keeping an open mind about it, I may still change it.
I just ordered two 250 lbs gas struts for the lid. I'm hoping that is sufficient.
Here is what I have planned for the coupler:

It's not may idea, but I can't remember who to give the credit to.
